Sometimes it feels like you’re constantly on the go. Whether you’re busy with work, school, socializing, whatever, it can take a lot of you.
Then there are other times when it feels like the anxiety will never end. Even though nothing major is happening you still have anxiety for some strange reason and it won’t go away.
Or maybe you’ve been feeling utterly exhausted and can’t see to get through your day without itching for a nap.
When this happens, I find it to be super helpful to have a chill day.
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not a huge fan of having chill days. I have a hard time relaxing. If I relax, then at the end of the day I feel guilty for not getting enough work done. But we all need to have “a day” once in a while whether we like it or not. (Or maybe it’s just me who can’t seem to relax half of the time!)
Let’s have a chill day
In case you needed some ideas to have a chill day, here you go.
1. Have a readathon
I assume, if you’re here, then you enjoy reading. I also assume that you have a ton of books backlogged on your TBR pile. Give yourself a day to go through these books, pick one or two out that you’ve been itching to read, and hop to it. Lounge on the couch or sit outside and bury yourself in a couple of books.
2. Have a movie marathon (or binge a TV show)
There’s nothing wrong with cozying on the couch or in bed and binging a couple of your favorite movies or TV shows. For me, whenever I have a movie marathon, I also go for The Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter. Lately, I’ve been watching and rewatching the Marvel movies. If you have a favorite TV show or have wanted to try a new show, binge that. My go-to shows are Psych and Boy Meets World.
3. Play video games
Lately, I’ve been sucked back into Animal Crossing. I love video games and there are certain games I go back to when I’m feeling overwhelmed or just need to sit back and chill. Animal Crossing is one of those games for me or something related to Pokemon.
4. Take a drive somewhere
Sometimes, all we need is to get out of the house for a little bit. But, you know, not actually see people or socialize. If it’s a nice day out go for a drive and explore someplace new. Roll the windows down, pop in a favorite CD or listen to the radio, and just go.
5. Give yourself a spa day
A few weeks ago, the kids I babysit were sick so that gave me the day off. At 11:30 in the early afternoon, I took a bath. I brought a book (which I needed to read for a review so I still technically got some work done) and it was nice just to sit back and relaxed. It helped that it was a good book, too! There are other things you can do for a spa day like doing your nails or just getting dressed up for no reason. A bubble bath is my favorite though.
6. Organize something
I find cleaning and organizing to be stress-relieving for me. Sometimes when things get too cluttered I get uptight about it and it bothers me. So, I’ll take a day to go through whatever it is and declutter some parts of my room or the house or even on my computer.
What else can you do?
There are plenty of other things you can do to have a relaxing day. These are just some of the things I enjoy doing or would like to try doing some time.
