I know a lot of people who make a resolution for the new year of reading more books. I’m one of those people.
I love to read. There are many books that I would love to read, but I unfortunately cannot read six books in one day or read every book on my to-be-read list in one year. It’s just not possible.
Here are some ways you can read more in 2016 and make it fun for you.
1. Set a goal.
How many books would you like to read next year? You don’t have to hit your goal, but I do think it’s fun to challenge yourself.
A great way to do this is utilize the Reading Challenge from Goodreads.
2. Play Bingo.
Do a quick Google search and you’ll find so many different Bingo boards for reading. I’ve seen boards that say, “read a book with a blue cover” or “read the first book of a trilogy” or “read a book written by a female author.”
There are many different variations and it’s a great way to find new books to love and enjoy.
3. Pick Books out of a Jar.
Write the books on your to-be-read list on individual pieces of paper. When you’re ready to read a new book, pick one out of the jar. It’ll be a fun surprise each time.
4. Go to the Library.
I go to the library at least once a month for my writers’ workshop. I never get a chance to browse around, though. I’m hoping to change that next year.
If you have a library card, use it. Why not try books out for free?
5. Treat Yourself.
Buy yourself a new book weekly or monthly or however often you want. It’ll keep your bookshelf updated in case you ever get in a slump and don’t know what to read.
2016 is only a week away.
What are your plans to read more?
