Short Story Sunday #48

NOTHING There’s not a damn thing you can do about it. Once it’s done, it’s done. People always tend to act before they think. Once they realized they’ve made a mistake, they think it’s so easy to fix. Well, I’ll tell you something right now: mistakes are not easy to fix. You can’t take a hammer and just smash something to fit together again....

Short Story Sunday 221: Rush

Tanner ran down the stairs, past the kitchen, through the living room, and dashed out the front door. He didn’t even bother to call goodbye to his mother or father. They both had a day off from work so they were most likely still sleeping anyway. If anything, they woke up to the front door slamming behind Tanner. Not that he had meant...

Meet Roger Peppercorn, Author [Interview]

Please tell us a little bit about yourself. Things about myself? Well I’m not sure where to begin. I really don’t like talking about myself  *cough* but if I must pontificate about myself at length I will marshal on. It’s funny because as a writer you are of two minds the narcissist and the demur. I say this laughingly because if you give me...

Short Story Sunday 109

The phone rang and rang in the other room. Angie remained seated on the leather couch in her living room listening to it chime over and over. The ring was murmured as she only had the one phone in the whole house, and it was in the kitchen. It was fairly easy to ignore, but she couldn’t help but listen to it. She...

How To Create Your Own Fantasy Language [Guest Post]

You’ve probably heard of Sindarin and Quenya even if you don’t know a word of either language. These two constructed languages which J.R.R. Tolkien created have, for many, become the benchmarks of languages used in fantasy and for science fiction, there is Klingon from the Star Trek universe. Writing in a secondary world means creating not only peoples and cultures but also the world’s...

A New Idea For NaNoWriMo

Via Pinterest Throughout the month of October I’ve been outlining a novel titled To The Fullest for NaNoWriMo next month. The other day, I stepped out of the shower and a brand new novel idea smacked me in the face. It had nothing to do with the novel I was planning to write. Nothing to do with George Florence. It wasn’t even an idea I had...

Short Story Sunday #30

Start with: I once asked…             I once asked him if he was ever going to be happy in his relationship. From what I could tell, he didn’t seem to be very smitten with his current girlfriend. I had liked him for a while, but I was too slow in asking him out. Now he was dating some floozy for the past two years...

Short Story Sunday 267: Dead End (Part Five)

“You think Richard doesn’t want a lawyer because then they’ll prove Beth innocent and Richard guilty?” Lilah asked. George nodded as a curt response. Lilah turned away from George and watched Richard, Beth, and Barney in the interrogation room. Barney was patiently waiting for Beth to calm down enough so they could begin to get to the bottom of the situation. Beth was distraught...

I’ve been writing since I was 10-years-old because I wanted to copy my older sister. Originally starting with Ninja Turtle fan fiction, writing stuck with me throughout the years as I honed my skills in the craft and let my imagination run wild. I like to write in a few different genres, though I mostly write mystery as well as short stories and/or flash fiction. In 2022 I won the “Qutex Young Author for the year” award. I also wrote many articles for different sites. One example can be found here.
