Mann Cakes (Beach Pointe 1) By Mysti Parker [Book Review]

I downloaded this book on my Kindle when it was free from BookBub. Summary: Two brothers. Two sisters. One sweet & sexy rivalry.  Twin brothers and Air Force vets, Tanner and Garrett Mann, return from deployment to find their thriving business burned to the ground. Time for Plan B: Move back to their hometown of Beach Pointe to start over. But that means running into Paige...

Short Story Sunday 284: Hook

“The importance of the first line or the opening paragraph or even the first chapter is to hook the reader in.” Mrs. Terris stated pacing in the front of the classroom. She held up the current book they were reading in their creative writing class. She was a firm believer that people needed to read a lot in order to write, but Jane didn’t...

I Organized My Books… Again

I did it again. I organized my bookshelves. And when I say I organized them, I mean I was too tired to alphabetize them or put them in rainbow order or anything fancy like that. No, I just went through my books and got rid of some. Yes, I’m getting rid of some books. I know a lot of people think it’s a sin to...

Why I Love The Cabins [Camp NaNoWriMo]

One thing I love about Camp NaNo as opposed the session in November is that you have cabins. The forums on the main site are great, yes, but your comment can easily get overlooked. Not to mention having everyone on the same thread instead of 20 or so people can be a bit overwhelming. You can miss a lot if you miss a day...

Going Home

Today l’m leaving this beautiful place. I was lucky to stay seven full days this time whereas last time we only stayed five full days. Yet, l still feel as though we didn’t have nearly enough time. I filled up my autograph book. There were still a few characters l wanted to see, but we saw and met a lot; a lot more than...

How to Name Your Characters

Your name is part of what makes you you. That’s no different from the characters in your story. Some people say that names aren’t important. It’s the description and development throughout the story that creates loveable, relateable characters. I think names are pretty important as well. Plus, they’re a lot of fun. There are two ways I come up with names for my characters: 1....

Quick Update

Updating About Nothing… It’s been six days since I last updated, which kind of stinks because I was doing so well at updating regularly. However, my life has been a bit hectic lately, so I haven’t had any time. If I told you why I was so busy you wouldn’t believe me, although if you follow me on Twitter then you probably know that...

Short Story Sunday 263: Find Me (Part One)

Lilah kicked her foot lightly against the bottom of George’s desk making a low thud sound. She slouched all the way back in her chair swinging her leg aimlessly and mindlessly. George peered over his book with every thud, his eyes getting narrower each time. She let out a huge sigh – she made it bigger and louder than it needed to be. Since...

Reading On Vacation

I prefer physical books over e-books. I like turning the pages, I like the crinkle of the spine, I love the smell of the ink on the paper. Reading physical books just has an overall good feeling to it. But I do like e-books as well. I enjoy that I can carry multiple books with me anywhere and I also like that they’re typically...

I’ve been writing since I was 10-years-old because I wanted to copy my older sister. Originally starting with Ninja Turtle fan fiction, writing stuck with me throughout the years as I honed my skills in the craft and let my imagination run wild. I like to write in a few different genres, though I mostly write mystery as well as short stories and/or flash fiction. In 2022 I won the “Qutex Young Author for the year” award. I also wrote many articles for different sites. One example can be found here.
