Short Story Sunday 248: Overflow [Flash Fiction]

Water dripped from the ceiling in the basement. Harry looked up from his book, comfortable in his new armchair, noticing the water. A bright flash of lighting shone through the small window and was followed by the loudest boom of thunder that seemed to shake the whole house. He closed his book and stared at the small dark spot on the ceiling. He could...

WIP Wednesday [January 2019]

Well, we’re already in the middle of January and it’s time for me to give an update of what I’ve been working on. So far, the month of January has been getting away from me. I keep thinking we celebrated the New Year just the other day and it’s already been a tad over two weeks. I have to be honest, I haven’t been...

Day Thirteen and Booky Questions

Interviewy Stuff…. Hey everyone! I was invited to do some interview-like questions. So I’m going to post that first and then give you a quick update on my progress! The other day, Tiffany Metzger commented on my blog and told me about Blog Hopping and Booky Questions and tagged me in it. I am more than happy to participate in it. Thanks, Tiffany! So...

Psych: A Fatal Frame Of Mind By William Rabkin [Book Review]

I bought the book on my Kindle. Summary: When the Santa Barbara art museum unveils its newest acquisition, the long-lost masterpiece by Dante Gabriel Rossetti isn’t the only surprise behind the red curtain-so is the museum’s curator. Dead. The case has everything Shawn likes: it’s bizarre, it’s baffling, and there’s a snack bar at the crime scene. But the investigation gets a lot less...

Camp NaNo: The End

It’s the last day of Camp NaNo. For some–depending on where you live–it’s already over. Did you hit your word goal and validate it? Did you go above and beyond? Did you finish your novel and are you satisfied with it? Like I said in yesterday’s post, I’m going to take a break from my NaNo project. I thought the story was ready to...

Short Story Sunday 161: Memories

When you’re having a good time with friends or family, that’s all you think about in the moment. You’re having fun; you’re having a great day. You never realize that you’re actually making memories. Sophia stood in the middle of the cemetery wearing her black dress, the same outfit she wore just a year ago to Camille’s funeral. She held onto her black...

Short Story Sunday #75

The last time I saw her, she had a chip on her shoulder. She didn’t want anything to do with me. She didn’t want to talk to me; she didn’t even want to look at me. There was nothing the two of us had in common anymore. That was okay by me because she had changed. She wasn’t the person I became friends...

On Editing: Asking a Friend to Critique Your Novel

Yesterday I talked about what you should do if a friend asks you to critique their novel. But what should you do when you ask a friend to critique your novel? You’re not the reader this time around, you’re the writer. There’s a lot more to prepare for your novel–and yourself–when you decide to share your world with others. Are you ready to show your...

NaNoWriMo 2014 Winner

I hit 50k this morning on my NaNo! I wrote 5,000 words this morning in order to finish before work. I am so proud of myself! I hit 50,055 words and when I tried to validate it on NaNo, the word count came out as 49,985. So I needed to add in some more words. I don’t know how that worked out. Now Word...

I’ve been writing since I was 10-years-old because I wanted to copy my older sister. Originally starting with Ninja Turtle fan fiction, writing stuck with me throughout the years as I honed my skills in the craft and let my imagination run wild. I like to write in a few different genres, though I mostly write mystery as well as short stories and/or flash fiction. In 2022 I won the “Qutex Young Author for the year” award. I also wrote many articles for different sites. One example can be found here.
