I borrowed an e-copy on my Kindle from Amazon Prime. The decision to review and all opinions are my own.
I’m a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and when I came across some of the comics on Amazon’s Prime Reading, I couldn’t resist. I don’t know much about the Guardians of the Galaxy other than watching the movies, so this was an enlightening comic to read.
The comic is, of course, a quick read. It’s a similar story to the movies but the characters have different personalities and appearances. For example, Groot looks scary in the comics as opposed to the adorable tree in the movies.
Even though this is volume one, a lot happened in this comic. After introducing Peter Quill and the Guardians going on an adventure with Iron Man, the end shows some background on the other Guardians such as Rocket, Groot, Drax, and Gamora. This was actually a bit all over the place for me. It didn’t feel linear, but it still made sense.
If you like Marvel or superheroes in general, pick this one up if you get a chance. It’s a good insight on the Guardians and a fun story.
