Last Friday I went out to dinner with my parents and sister. We went to Chili’s, which is right next door to Barnes & Noble. Well, we can’t be in the area and not go inside Barnes & Noble, right?
Even though Kris and I go to Barnes & Noble at least once a week, we still walked in there as though we’ve never entered the place before.
Every once in a while Kris gets in one of those “moods” where she absolutely has to buy books. I love it because she always asks, “What do you want?”
Free books? Okay.
We ended up with four books before we realized we needed to leave before we attempted to buy the entire place.
The books Kris bought for me were Paper Towns by John Green and Fire With Fire by Jenny Han and Shioban Vivian. I read and reviewed Burn For Burn a few months ago and didn’t really like it, yet it’s still interesting enough for me to finish the series.
Kris also got Until Tuesday by Luis Carlos Montalvan with Bret Witter. The book caught her eye because it had a dog on the cover. It’s about the bonding of a wounded dog and wounded soldier. I’m sure it’ll be a tearjerker, but a good one.
There’s a book that’s been out since May first and I told myself I was going to pre-order it and never did. Then I said I was going to order it the day it was released and again, I never did.
Well, this book was the last book of its kind, pushed way back on the bottom shelf. Maybe it was the bright orange that caught my eye, but I’m so happy I found it.

The Ables by Jeremy Scott.
The Ables is about a group of disabled kids who have superpowers. For example, the main character is blind and has telekinesis, but struggles because he can’t see what he’s trying to move.
I don’t see too many books out there with disabled protagonists, so this made me excited when I first heard about it.
Jeremy Scott is also the ever-so-popular CinemaSins from YouTube. It’s a channel where they review movies and point out everything wrong with them.
Kris and I watch his channel all the time because he’s witty, funny, and sarcastic. Plus, he has a wonderful voice.
Seriously, we tried to look for the audio book of The Ables as well, but they didn’t have it in stock.
Have I started reading these books, yet? No. Do I plan to soon? Of course.
I have so many books on my to-be-read list that I don’t know if the newer books will take priority or not.
Then again, sometimes you just need to surround yourself with books and the world seem a whole lot brighter.
