About Me

About Rachel Poli | RachelPoli.com

My name is Rachel Poli. I’m a 24-year-old who resides in the United States.

I AM A WRITER.

I have been writing since I was 10-years-old starting off with simple fan fiction. I write a little bit of everything, but I mainly write children’s, middle grade, and young adult. I’m in the process of self-publishing my first novel, a mystery.

I AM A BLOGGER.

I started this blog in May 2012 to get my writing out in the real world and use it as an author platform. However, it’s become so much more than that. I update this blog on a daily basis with short stories, book reviews, writing prompts, and fun informative articles about reading and writing. I also have guest bloggers on my site and conduct interviews with authors.

I AM A READER.

I enjoy reading books from middle grade to young adult with the occasional children’s book sprinkled in. I especially enjoy reading mystery novels. I prefer physical books, but I do have a Kindle and absolutely love it. I accept book review requests as well.

I AM A FREELANCER.

I interned for Emily Green, a book publicist, for a few months where I found book bloggers and reviewers and reached out to them for certain projects. Now I provide book publicity services myself as well as for her and Chasing Dreams Publishing. I also provide many other freelance services such as virtual assistant work, content writing, and more.

I AM A GAMER.

Video games are one of my hobbies and passions. My sister and I run a video game blog together called Double Jump where we post game reviews, gaming news, and opinion pieces. I also contribute to Miketendo64 and Pure Nintendo writing game reviews.

I AM A STUDENT.

I have graduated high school, received my Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, and I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in English Studies: Creative Writing. I’d love to go back someday to get my Master’s, but that most likely won’t be happening anytime soon. In the meantime, I’ve been teaching myself plenty of new things through reading and the Internet.

I AM AN EDUCATOR AND NANNY.

I worked in preschools for about 8 years before quitting to pursue my writing career. I continue to nanny, however, and have been doing so for almost 10 years. I’m also the director and teacher of the Sunday school program at my church.

I AM A DAUGHTER, SISTER, AUNT, AND PET OWNER.

I am the youngest of three girls. I live with my mother, father, and one older sister, Kris. My other older sister lives with her husband and my toddler nephew. I also have a cat named Chase, a dog named Chip, a turtle named Raph, and two fish tanks. I brought all these animals home and hope to bring home more someday.I Am Me, Rachel Poli | RachelPoli.com

  1. I immediately think ”positive’ – which is a great thing for a young writer to be.I’m old enough to be your grandmother, and sadly have no grandchildren of my own. I have three, hunky, very grown-up sons who I love dearly and a wonderful husband. I too worked with children and encouraged their reading and poetry for ten years and have always been hooked on writing and the arts. I’ve had poetry, articles, short stories and five books published: the latest WHERE ANGELS & DEVILS TREAD (a collaboration of 16 short stories. All genres.) I wish you all good fortune in your writing endeavours and am sure you’ll ‘make it.’

    • This is very sweet of you to say. 🙂 I’m sure your family is lucky to have you and congrats on your own success with your writing. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read and comment on my blog! 🙂

  2. I love the honesty of your About me page. You don’t flower things up, it’s something Irish people love about Americans. I am a published poet and love reading too. You commented on something I wrote on The Street Photographer’s Guide I think. One think I have been told works well is videos. You could do video reviews of books. Like a 3 minute blurb. The 3 minute book blurb, try saying this after too many Guinnesssesss:)
