About Me

About Rachel Poli | RachelPoli.com

My name is Rachel Poli. I’m a 24-year-old who resides in the United States.

I AM A WRITER.

I have been writing since I was 10-years-old starting off with simple fan fiction. I mainly write children’s, middle grade, and young adult. However, I have tried my hand at scripts, poems, and short stories and I have some ideas for those as well. I am not yet published, but I’m on my way.

I AM A BLOGGER.

I started this blog in May 2012 to get my writing out in the real world and use it as an author platform. However, it’s become so much more than that. I update this blog on a daily basis with short stories, book reviews, writing prompts, and fun informative articles about reading and writing. I also have guest bloggers on my site and conduct interviews with authors.

I AM A READER.

I enjoy reading books from middle grade to young adult with the occasional children’s book sprinkled in. I especially enjoy reading mystery novels. My sister and I go to Barnes & Noble just about every week. I prefer physical books, but I do have a Kindle and absolutely love it. I’m an avid book reviewer as well.

I AM AN ASSISTANT BOOK PUBLICIST.

In July 2017 I interned for Emily Green, a book publicist, for a few months where I found book bloggers and reviewers and reached out to them for certain projects. Now I work part-time as her assistant book publicist on a project by project basis.

I AM A GAMER.

Video games are one of my hobbies. I love to play Pokemon, Ace Attorney, The Legend of Zelda, Mario, and much more. My sister and I run a video game blog together called Double Jump, feel free to check it out.

I AM A STUDENT.

After graduating high school in 2011, I got my Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education in 2013. In 2015 I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in English Studies: Creative Writing. I do think about getting my Master’s degree from time to time, but at this point in time I most likely won’t go back to school.

I AM AN EDUCATOR AND NANNY.

I worked as a lead teacher in a preschool for about three years before working at an integrated preschool as a teacher’s aide for another four years. I’m also the director of the Sunday school program at my church. I teach one of the classes and created the curriculum for the program. I’ve also been a nanny since 2009, watching children ages ranging from two years to 17 years. Some children with disabilities, some without. I’ve worked for multiple families over the years, but I currently work for one family now.

I AM A DAUGHTER, SISTER, AUNT, AND PET OWNER.

I am the youngest of three girls. I live with my mother, father, and one older sister, Kris. My other older sister lives with her husband and my toddler nephew. I also have a cat named Chase, a dog named Chip, a turtle named Raph, and two fish tanks. I brought all these animals home and hope to bring home more someday.I Am Me, Rachel Poli | RachelPoli.com

  1. I immediately think ”positive’ – which is a great thing for a young writer to be.I’m old enough to be your grandmother, and sadly have no grandchildren of my own. I have three, hunky, very grown-up sons who I love dearly and a wonderful husband. I too worked with children and encouraged their reading and poetry for ten years and have always been hooked on writing and the arts. I’ve had poetry, articles, short stories and five books published: the latest WHERE ANGELS & DEVILS TREAD (a collaboration of 16 short stories. All genres.) I wish you all good fortune in your writing endeavours and am sure you’ll ‘make it.’

    • This is very sweet of you to say. 🙂 I’m sure your family is lucky to have you and congrats on your own success with your writing. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read and comment on my blog! 🙂
