10k More To Go…
So I really didn’t feel like writing today. I had to open and close at work so I didn’t get a chance to write in the morning and by the time I got home I felt as though I was done for the day. So I decided that I wasn’t going to write.
Then I decided that I would write at least 1,667 words because that’s what I’ve been doing all month and hope to continue doing so even after I hit 50k. Well, 1,667 added onto my word count was 39,700 or something around there. I decided that is too close to 40k, so why not write the extra 300 or so words?
Then I got tired. I realized since I am so far ahead, I technically only need about 600 more words to write every day in order to hit 50k by the end of the month. But that didn’t feel right, so I decided to just write an even 1,000.
But then I realized that I have been trying to write five pages a day. So I said, “Fine! I’ll write five pages or 1,000 words…whichever comes first.” Five pages came first (gotta love dialogue…), but it frustrated me because I wanted the even 1,000. So I went for it. I had about 39k. I was sad because 40k was just another 1,000 words away. But I was too tired.
So I updated my word count on NaNo. But because I didn’t write 1,667 today the bar for today’s word count was still blue, it hadn’t turned green. So OCD kicked in…thus, my word count is 40,037.
