WIP Wednesday [July 2019]

Writing

I’ve been making great progress with my creative writing lately. I’ve been going back and forth between George Florence & The Perfect Alibi as well as Crossroads. I’ll admit, I’ve been working more on Crossroads than I have been with my mystery though. Crossroads will be coming to Wattpad in September while George and Lilah are planned for 2020.

I re-worked the whole outline and started my rewrites for the second draft. I’ll soon be able to begin my edits of the story and then come September, it should be all set to go. I’m looking forward to sharing it with you all. I’m so in love with this story!

Blogging

Since I’m going on vacation at the end of the month, I’ve been doing a lot of extra blogging. I finished off July’s posts and got a decent headstart on August’s posts. By that, I mean I’m working on the blog graphics since I won’t have access to Photoshop for the next two weeks. This way I can work on August’s posts and no worry about having to do the graphics later.

Overall

July has been quite busy but I’m keeping up with things and I’m making great progress. I’m happy where I am right now.

WIP Wednesday [May 2019]

WIP Wednesday: May 2019 | Creative Writing | Blogging | Work In Progress | RachelPoli.com

This week, in particular, hasn’t been productive at all. The weekend was a weird one – with things online and in real life. It was a good weekend, but some things aren’t great and there was some weird news.

I won’t go into detail about everything, but I did already mention my grandfather going into the hospital. I’ll say that he went back into the hospital but hopefully, he’ll get to come home today. So, we’ll see what happens with that. He’s okay for the most part though.

It was also Mother’s Day so things were busy anyway. Needless to say, I didn’t get anything done over the weekend.

Which, in turn, poured into this week. I was so exhausted and out of it on Monday and Tuesday. I’m trying my best to get back into the work groove today.

So, that’s my update. I haven’t worked on anything this week. Hopefully, the rest of the week goes better and smoother.

And honestly, it’s been most of the month too. I haven’t edited as much as I planned at all. So, we’ll just see how the rest of the month goes. Fingers crossed I can get something done and everything else goes okay.

WIP Wednesday [March 2019]

WIP Wednesday: March 2019 | Work in progress | Creative Writing | Blogging | RachelPoli.com

Writing

I have to be honest. I haven’t really been working on anything writing-specific this week. My sister is due to have her baby any day and I was so sure he’d be here by now. With that said, I’ve actually been just doing little things here and there while I wait.

I have done some things though. I started a Fiverr profile not too long ago. I’ve been working on adding more services to that as well as the Services page here. Slowly, but surely, I’ve been knocking things off my to-do list.

Blogging

I’ve been working on a lot on the blog as well. There are so many posts I can write and get up on the blog ahead of time. In the end, this will save me so much time in the long run so I can focus on writing and other things that I plan on doing outside of the blog.

So far, I’ve gotten all my Short Story Sunday shorts up, scheduled, and ready to go! I’ve also been getting a lot of drafts up for posts that I can write and schedule in advance as well. The Quotes are done for the year and I have drafts for the Character Asks as well. Those two features are every other month. The quotes didn’t take too long and the character asks should be quick-ish as well. I even have drafts for the WIP Wednesdays, Goals, and Wrap-Ups for each month. Of course, I can’t write these posts in advance, but at least they’re already set up, graphics and all. I just need to write them and schedule them.

My never big project is to get all the Time To Write prompts up here. That will take a while. Short Story Sunday took a couple of hours. Still, I’m happy to be making such progress! I plan to have this all done by the end of March. Come April, I can get into a better routine of getting that month’s posts done at the beginning of the month if I can. I can also get into a routine of reading and commenting on other blogs again, getting active on my social media again, etc.

Also, writing. It will free up so much writing time.

That’s It For Now

March has been the month of catching up and getting ahead especially this past week. I’ve been trying new things, such as Fiverr, and really prioritizing all my work. I’m getting somewhere!

WIP Wednesday [February 2019]

I feel like such a broken record every month, but… here we are: the middle of February. These months seem to be getting shorter and shorter.

Sunday Morning (Vol. 1)

I honestly don’t have much to say on this except that it’s almost done. I promise! I can’t wait to finally get this book out of the nest.

George Florence & The Perfect Alibi (Book 1)

I will be creating a plan of action for this one. This is almost done as well, I can feel it. I’ll probably use the 85K90 Writing Challenge as a timeline to get this one done. The major thing that may slow me down with this one is hiring an editor. So, we’ll see how things play out.

Fiverr

I officially made a Fiverr account! I’ve already gotten my first gig and a 5-star rating, so I’m pretty proud of that! As of right now I’m offering beta reading and content writing services, though more will be added over time. You can check out my Fiverr account as well as the Services page on this blog to learn more.

Patron Story

I completed writing February’s story for my patrons. This is the longest one I’ve written being over 3,000 words. I think it’s a good one though and honestly, my favorite one I’ve written so far for my patrons. That has been posted on my Patreon exclusive for all my patrons. If you’d like an exclusive short story each month, feel free to join my Patreon at any tier.

That’s It

I honestly have to say, February has been slow on the writing front. There’s been a lot of other things going on between work and real life. I’ve actually worked a good amount on smaller projects rather than my bigger projects. I need to sit down and look at what I want to get done by the end of the month and go from there.

WIP Wednesday [January 2019]

Well, we’re already in the middle of January and it’s time for me to give an update of what I’ve been working on. So far, the month of January has been getting away from me. I keep thinking we celebrated the New Year just the other day and it’s already been a tad over two weeks.

I have to be honest, I haven’t been working on too much. There are a lot of projects to work on, but the biggest thing I need to do is prioritize. Even though I listed everything I want to 2019, I’m trying to figure out what can be done now. What should get done first.

One thing that I know for sure that I need to get done as soon as possible is my debut book, Sunday Morning.

Sunday Morning

It’s crunch time for me on this one. I’ve been giving the majority of my focus and attention on this collection of short stories. The writing and editing is done. I just have to do another proofread of the book. Other than that, it’s all technical stuff from here on out.

It’s taking me extra long because there’s a lot of research involved as I figure out how to self-publish. Hopefully it all goes well and I don’t mess anything up.

I’ve also been working hard on setting things up for my patrons. If you join my Patreon at the lowest tier by January 20, 2019, you’ll get a special promo-box when the book is released. So, yeah… lots of things to do!

Submissions

I’m still working on submitting to at least two places this month. I submitted one thing and now I need to find someplace else. I have a few ideas, but I’m not sure if I’m going to go with all of them or just one. Normally I wouldn’t question it, but the entry fees add up.

That’s it for now.

That’s been my January so far and most likely will be the rest of my January. I feel like I already need to start planning my February.
