WIP Wednesday [February 2019]

I feel like such a broken record every month, but… here we are: the middle of February. These months seem to be getting shorter and shorter.

Sunday Morning (Vol. 1)

I honestly don’t have much to say on this except that it’s almost done. I promise! I can’t wait to finally get this book out of the nest.

George Florence & The Perfect Alibi (Book 1)

I will be creating a plan of action for this one. This is almost done as well, I can feel it. I’ll probably use the 85K90 Writing Challenge as a timeline to get this one done. The major thing that may slow me down with this one is hiring an editor. So, we’ll see how things play out.

Fiverr

I officially made a Fiverr account! I’ve already gotten my first gig and a 5-star rating, so I’m pretty proud of that! As of right now I’m offering beta reading and content writing services, though more will be added over time. You can check out my Fiverr account as well as the Services page on this blog to learn more.

Patron Story

I completed writing February’s story for my patrons. This is the longest one I’ve written being over 3,000 words. I think it’s a good one though and honestly, my favorite one I’ve written so far for my patrons. That has been posted on my Patreon exclusive for all my patrons. If you’d like an exclusive short story each month, feel free to join my Patreon at any tier.

That’s It

I honestly have to say, February has been slow on the writing front. There’s been a lot of other things going on between work and real life. I’ve actually worked a good amount on smaller projects rather than my bigger projects. I need to sit down and look at what I want to get done by the end of the month and go from there.

WIP Wednesday [October 2018]

We’re already halfway through October. The weather is finally starting to turn more Fall than Spring and things are getting pretty chilly. I’m not sure I’m ready to start wearing coats again. I guess I just need to stock up on more coffee.

George Florence & The Perfect Alibi

I’ll admit I haven’t really worked on this novel this month. I’ve had it in the back of my mind but I have a couple of other projects that I’m thinking about. I have sat down and created some sort of plan/schedule/deadline/thing for this one though. Once I get Sunday Morning figured out, I’ll start working on this again, which should be soon.

Sunday Morning

This is a collection of flash fiction I’m working on. I’m almost done with another round of edits and then I’ll start another rewrite. Sunday Morning is planned to be self-published in early 2019. My patrons over on Patreon are making this book possible. I’m running a special promotion on my Patreon for all who join my community over there. For $1 a month you’ll get a special book box which will include a copy of the book with a patron-exclusive book cover, a hand-written thank you note from me, a bookmark, and more! (I’m still thinking of ideas.) This offer ends on December 9, 2018.

If you enjoy my work on this blog and read my stories, please consider joining me over on Patreon where you’ll get fun rewards based on the tier you sign up at as well as access to a fun, exclusive community where you’ll hear news first straight from me! You can check out Patreon here. Or you can sign up directly here.

Patron Only Short

The last project I’m working on for this month is a short story for my patrons. One of the rewards for signing up at $1 a month is an exclusive short story from me each month. This short story is written in help with my $3-patrons in which they can name a character and give me a prompt to write about. Again, if this is something that interests you, please take a look at my Patreon.

WIP Wednesday [June 2018]

We’re already just about halfway through June, which is unbelievable to me. I know I say this a lot, but I feel like 2018 just started, let alone the month of June.

But anyway, here’s what I’ve been working on this month.

George Florence & The Perfect Alibi

I’ve been working on rewriting this book, the first in the mystery series. I was hoping this would be my last draft, but I ended up making some major changes to the plot. So I’m going to finish rewriting the draft and go from there.

To have it finished by the end of the month, I’ve been writing about 25 pages a day. So far, it’s been going pretty well.

Brave

I’m working on writing the first draft of my next Wattpad story, a fantasy filled with adventure and dragons. I’ve been writing one chapter each day I work on it (which is about three days a week) and so far, I like how it’s turning out. I hope it conveys that way when I publish it.

Special Project

I’ve been working on a brand new project for the past week or so. This is something that will see the light of day, but it’s exclusive to my patrons on Patreon for now. When it does release into the world, my patrons will have exclusive stuff (I’m saying the term “stuff” loosely for now until I decide what it is) to go along with it. So, I’m excited for this one!

Lucky Seven Challenge

Via Skye Hegyes
Via Skye Hegyes

While I was looking through the WordPress Reader this morning, I came across a post titled “Lucky Seven Challenge” from Skye Hegyes’s blog. I saw the word “challenge” and it intrigued me to see what it was all about.

Apparently, you’re supposed to go to page seven of your work in progress, count down seven lines, and then copy and paste the following seven lines to share with people. Make sense?

So, here’s mine. I took it from my most recent accomplishment, Detective Florence 2.

I growled at her, but she pretended that she didn’t hear me. I knew she wasn’t going to listen to me if I told her to get back into the other room. She stayed behind me as we were just about to reach the bathroom.

“Didn’t you lock the front door when we left earlier?” I grumbled. I knew I should have been the last one to exit the house.

“Of course I did!” Lilah defended herself in a harsh undertone. She glared at me for only a moment and then she turned her attention back on the bathroom door anticipating the moment when someone came out into the hallway.

Now, I’ll admit that I cheated a bit…this is eight lines, not seven. The seventh line ended in the middle of a sentence.

I have to say that I’m kind of glad where the lines fell. Seven lines isn’t a lot, but you can still tell what is going on the story; or you can at least assume. From this alone, you guys can probably use it as a writing prompt and make up your own ending. 😉

Make sure you go to Skye Hegyes’s blog and check out her Lucky Seven Challenge! Also, feel free to do it yourself and post it your own blog. I’d love to see what others come up with!
