I Failed

What I mean by that is I didn’t even try.

Last night I was supposed to stay up all night reading for my own planned Readathon.

Well, my friend, who now lives across the country, came home and she’s only home for two days. She has a lot of people to see in just those two days and the last time I saw her was sometime last year.

Needless to say, I decided to be social and see my friend after such a long time.

I didn’t expect to stay at her house too late, but by the time I got home and settled in it was after 10:30.

Kris and I were going to start our reading then, but then we got to talking. We were talking about our writing, about books, about fangirl things, about life in general.

Before we knew it, we were both yawning. We checked the time and… Would you look at that? 12:47 AM.

We ended up just going to bed because while we were both still semi-awake, neither one of us was in the mood to sit down and read for a couple of hours.

So we did stay up pretty late. It wasn’t an all-nighter and we weren’t reading, but we had a good chat. Every once in a while, we end up sitting down for a couple of hours and discuss stuff. It’s usually right before bed, too… Weird.

Anyway, I don’t even have a book review for today. The week kind of got away from me when it came to my reading time.

We’ll try to do a readathon some other time (in the near future) because it is something I want to try. I’m curious to see how long I would last.

I’m a little bummed we didn’t get to do it, but in this case seeing my friend is more important. The next time I see her will probably be around Christmas, but she might not even make it home for that. In which case, I probably won’t see her again until summer of next year. Plane tickets aren’t cheap.

So, sorry for that lack of updates.

I hope you all had a great night!

Readathon June 2016 Rachel Poli

I’ve heard about Readathons through Jen’s blog, Combustible Reviews. She’s a fantastic person and wonderful book blogger, so go check out her blog and follow it if you’re not already.

She did a 24-hour readathon not too long ago (actually, I think it was a couple of months ago…) and I didn’t know about it until the last minute. Either way, I wasn’t able to participate because I had work and stupid life things like that.

I told myself that I was going to do my own readathon with my sister, Kris, over the summer because I wouldn’t have work or any other obligations.

We were going to do a 24-hour one, but the date we chose conflicted with life things… again.

We decided we’re going to keep the same date, but we’re just going to do an all-nighter instead of a full 24-hours. Let’s pretend we’re easing ourselves into the 24-hour one that we may try for at the end of the summer.

The readathon is hosted by someone over at their blog (Again, check Jen’s blog because I can’t remember.), but Kris and I are doing our own because we would love to participate, but just can’t do the dates that the readathon usually is.

We’re going to do this June 24-June 25, a Friday into a Saturday. This was the easiest date.

This whole thing doesn’t sound as cool as I think it is, but it’ll be fun and something different to do. I’m hoping to maybe read at least two books during the night. If I make it through the night. There’s no guarantee that I’ll actually stay up the whole night. Reading makes me sleepy.

Anyway, that’s what we’ll be doing this coming Friday-Saturday. Feel free to do it as well if you can.

It’ll be an interesting experience.
