Fire And Ice

I wrote almost 3,000 words this morning. My NaNo word count is now 45,050. The end is near… it’s so close, but it’s so far away. I only have another 5,000 more words to write and then I’ll finally beat NaNo.

I have to say that NaNo didn’t go as well as I thought it would. My original plan was to write 1,000-word short stories so that come December I could expand and edit each story. In the end, I would have a decent collection of short stories that I thought I may or may not publish.

Some had potential to be decent short stories. Others I couldn’t see going very far. Most of them I’m keeping as back-ups for Short Story Sunday. Some of the short stories, as I’ve stated in other posts, have the potential to be something bigger than a short story.

For example, I am currently on part ten of something I called Fire and Ice. It’s a cliched title with a cliched pairing. However, it seems to be coming along quite nicely.

I don’t understand where the idea came from (or where it’s going to go for that matter), but it’s basically about two best friends who, on their 18th birthday, discover they have fire and ice powers. The girl, Joan, has the power of fire and the boy, Grant, has the power of ice.

There is a prophecy (I didn’t write this part as of yet, but the idea has been in my head since I wrote the first part) that states that both has a potential evil inside them. In order to kill this evil inside them, they must kill the other. In other words, if Grant wants to rid of the evil inside him, he needs to kill Joan or Joan would have to kill Grant. Like I said, they’re best friends so you can only imagine how devastated they are going to be when they hear this prophecy.

In the end, will Grant kill Joan? Will Joan kill Grant? Will they both decide to stay friends and allow the evil to overcome both of them? Wouldn’t that be an interesting sight… the two protagonists become the antagonists and run amok together.

I don’t know too much about this story idea, but I keep developing it in my head as I continue to write the parts for NaNo. It’s definitely an idea worth writing down to try to develop into a novel at a later time.

I am still going to start working on my Detective Florence series again once I hit 50k words and NaNo is over, so if I do work on Fire and Ice it won’t be for a long while. I’m sure I’ll be jotting down notes and ideas here and there, but what do you guys think of the potential new novel idea?

Day Eleven

Womp…

So I’m at school right now and I still have about an hour to keep on writing. Am I going to keep on writing? No. Why? I don’t know. I just don’t really feel like it right now.

Since I finished Saving Each Other, I started writing Seeing Things, which is the next part. Of course I then realized (thanks to Kristen) that I said I was going to finish Take Over when I finished Saving Each Other. So now I’m in the mood to finish Take Over and not write Seeing Things.

So this morning, I wrote 1,669 words of Seeing Things. I am done for the day because I have class, then I have to babysit, and then I have to watch my cousins because my mom has a meeting. This means I have to make dinner and clean up after dinner and fun things like that. Then my boyfriend has to come over and help me with stupid math homework. It’s not going to be a fun night.

But for 50,000 words, you’re supposed to write 1,667 words a day and I made sure that I got at least that much. Because I’m so far ahead, I only need to write about 747 words a day or something like that, but I wanted to keep up with the pace.

I now have a total of 36,748 words for the Three V’s Prophecy series for book one, which is also my Camp NaNo total. I plan on making it to 50,000 by Sunday. It’s going to be difficult, though. Tomorrow, Friday, I have class 9-10:15 and work 11-5ish. Then I’m probably going out with my boyfriend. So I’m going to try to wake up early tomorrow so I can write. I have all morning on Saturday to get things done and all day Sunday to get some writing done. So I think getting 50k by Sunday is doable, but it just might be a little difficult. I can always pull a late night here and there, I don’t mind. I think that would be fun!

When I hit 50k, if it’s by Sunday, I will still have a little over half of the month to go. So I’m thinking I might change my word count goal to 75,000. I’m not going to change it until after I hit the 50k, though because knowing my luck something will come up and I won’t be able to make it.

In other news, I have my first vlog video all done. I have no idea when I’m going to post it, though. I’m thinking I might post it on Sunday. I decided that, if I have the time, I’m going to try to post one vlog post every two weeks. So that’s twice a month. I thought that seemed fair so I can continue on with life while you guys won’t get so sick of me that easily. I don’t know if I’m going to have a set schedule for when I post these things, but as long as it’s twice a month, I guess that’s all that matters.

All you Camp NaNoers out there, keep going! And if you’re not doing Camp, keep writing anyway! For those of you who do not write or just read this blog because you have nothing better to do…hi!

Day Seven

Productiveness Is Upon Us….

There is no picture today because I forgot to take one. Sad day. 🙁

However, I had a fantastic day today! I don’t know about the rest of you. I got a lot of things done. I am exhausted out of my mind, but I feel great! I wrote a lot today for Camp NaNo and my sister and I re-organized our room. We still need to do a bit of cleaning up and organizing, but we made a pretty good dent and I have to say that our room looks great!

Back to writing, though…I wrote a total of 5,016 words today! I started at 20,002 words from yesterday and I wanted to make it up to at least 25,000 before I stopped for the day. I have 25,018 words for Saving Each Other so far! Yay for me!

I explained how this “novel” is going to work, right? Well, I’ll explain again just in case I didn’t in an earlier post…I planned on the Three V’s Prophecy (it’s a working title) to be three series long. Each series would have a total of five books making fifteen books. Of course, that was way too much. My sister gave me the idea to turn it into a trilogy. Each “series” would be in one book. So each book is going to have parts. The first part of the first novel is Saving Each Other. So, as you may have guessed, Saving Each Other isn’t going to be long like any ordinary novel. I plan on each part being between 25,000-50,000 words long. So if each part is 50,000 words long, the whole novel (all three novels) will be 250,000 words long. I have no idea how many pages that would be, but it’s going to be big. Did that explanation make any sense?

For Camp NaNo I plan on finishing the Saving Each Other part and then finish Take Over. If, by some miracle, I finish both by the end of April I may or may not continue onto the next part, which is called Seeing Things. Of course, that depends on whether I’m sick of the characters or not. I may start a new project instead.

That’s all the news I have for today. Tomorrow is Monday and it’s also day eight, which means that we’ve officially survived an entire week of Camp NaNo! Go us! I plan on writing another 5,000 words and hopefully making it to 30,000 by the end of the day. I have a four hour gap between school and work I really hope to get it all done.

Good luck on week two everyone! 🙂
