The Camp site doesn’t have forums like the main NaNo site. If you want to chat with fellow participants, you can either go to the Camp NaNo forum on the main site or you can join a cabin.
Cabins are assigned randomly, but you can change your cabin settings if you so wish. You can request people in your age group, people who are writing in the same genre as you, or people who have the same word count goal as you. Depending on what you choose, the camp counselors will assign a cabin to you.
There are private cabins. You can start your own cabin and invite specific participants to join. You can remain private with your friends or after you’ve invited who you want, you can make the cabin public where others can join at will.
You can opt out of the cabin assignments and not be in a cabin at all. It’s just you, your story, and the crackling campsite fire.
Cabin assignments are one week from today. Make sure you set your settings or create a private group soon!
Kris (Winged_Spirit) and I (Fiery_Sapphire) are in a private cabin of our own. It’s just the two of us right now, but if you would like to join us, let me know in the comments with your NaNo username. There aren’t a lot of spots, so it’ll be first come, first serve. We’re looking forward to writing with everyone.
Two more weeks and the writing begins. Finish your preparations soon!
As we all know Camp NaNoWriMo starts up again for the July 2014 session in less than a month! However, it’s back with a little twist.
There is a cabin feature on Camp NaNo where participants can gather, chat, and encourage each other with their writing. All in all it’s just a great way to make new friends.
Well, they’ve now added private cabins. Instead of suggesting someone to be in your cabin and then maybe getting in the same one, you can start a private cabin and invite specific people to join. If they accept the invitation then they’re automatically in the same cabin as you. The best part is that you don’t need to wait for the NaNo people to assign the cabins. The private ones begin as soon as you have someone in a cabin with you.
I wanted to see how this worked, so I decided to create one. It’s looking pretty sad at the moment because it’s just me, Fiery_Sapphire, and Kris, Winged_Spirit.
So I am sending out a message to all my NaNo/WordPress friends…if you are participating in Camp next month and would like the have the pleasure of having Kris and me as cabin mates, then please let me know. Give me your user-name and I will send you a cabin invitation through Camp NaNo.
Sorry for the long wait. Even though it’s only been about four days…I have been super busy with babysitting lately. Seriously, I feel like a mother between the two families I watch plus my cousins. It’s exhausting and annoying. Today I had to spend an hour listening to him play his trumpet at a private lesson. I stayed because he was nervous about being alone with the teacher. But now I have a splitting headache. And I have to go back out and babysit the other family.
So it’s a good thing I decided to write for an hour every morning. Otherwise I probably would not be getting anything done. I am way too busy and when I’m not doing anything, I’m too tired to write or…well, do anything. Honestly, it’s taking a lot of energy to write this post right now.
So my Camp NaNo count is 25,139 words. I got up to 25,010 this morning. I wrote just a tiny bit when I came home because I was hoping to actually be on par. With my goal of writing 2,500 words a day, I should be at 27,500 today. I thought I could write some extra in between babysitting gigs, but my head hurt too much.
I have more to say, but I’m going to save them for another post. You guys are lucky I wrote this much. 😉
