Inspiration Station

“You may not want to be a writer and that’s fine. But by the end of this class, you are going to know exactly what a writer does and all the blood, sweat, and tears that get mixed in with the ink.” –Athena Beech

Today was a rough day. Kris was home all day because she’s doing the over-night at her work tonight. I also had to go to work because the other teacher and I have been stripping the classrooms. We finished today, thank God. I can’t stand seeing the classrooms so bare. Anyway, because of those two factors I was not able to start writing early in the morning like I have been and with Kris there all I want to do is play video games with her. She got Sonic: Lost World for the Wii U for Christmas and we just started playing it the other day. It’s a great game and I bother her to play it at any moment I get.

So, I came home from work and said, “Wanna play Sonic?!” Kris said something to me that I regret mentioning to her…you see, the other day I wanted to do absolutely nothing. I had a cup of coffee in hand and all I wanted to do was put my feet up and watch Psych. I have been watching that a lot lately, I don’t know why. But season eight starts tomorrow night!

Even though I wanted to do everything humanly possible that did not involve me writing my 5,000 word count, I repeated to myself: Work first, play later. I told Kris this. So, what do you think she said when I asked her to play Sonic? Yes, “Work first, play later.” Thus, we wrote.

Kris wrote a little and then decided to edit her novel (yay!) while I continued to write in order to hit my 5,000 daily word goal. Since I finished Detective Florence I had to write something else. I looked at my To Do List and looked at all the novels from there. I couldn’t choose which one to write, so Kris put them in a randomizer thing on the internet and it told me to write Hunter & Comet.

Well, I wrote an even 2,000 words for that. However, I wasn’t in the mood to write it so I decided to stop because it was turning out kind of crappy…even for the first draft.

I decided to write Inspiration Station instead. This was a story idea I came up with on a whim one night (pretty recently) when I wasn’t sure what to write. At the time I still wasn’t in the mood to finish Detective Florence, I had no idea what to write so I decided to write about writing. I’m pretty sure I’ve explained this novel before, but I’m going to explain it again…

Inspiration Station is about a writer, Athena Beech, who is not yet published because she’s stuck on her writing. As her day job she starts her first semester teaching a creative writing course at a local community college. She has a class full of interesting students. Some are taking the class because they want to write for a living and others are taking it because they believe it to be an “easy A.” Athena takes this as a challenge and comes up with the “Inspiration Station” which is basically a bunch of writing prompts. She hopes to give inspiration to all her students as well as herself.

So, as you probably figured out, the quote up top is from the main character, the teacher, in the story. She said to her class right as they were being dismissed because most of them aren’t too into the class at the moment.

I’m having fun with it. As a teacher, I think it’s fun to write lesson plans and since I’m not a teacher anymore I don’t write lesson plans anymore. So, yes, I am writing actual lesson plans for Athena’s classes. They’re not fully thought-out, mostly just an outline to help me plan the novel, but it’s a lot of fun. I think some of that stuff would be cool to do in a real classroom.

I wrote 3,358 words for the story. Adding that to the 2,000 I wrote for Hunter & Comet, I have 5,358 for today. This also leaves me at 6,500-something total for Inspiration Station so far. I already had about 3,300-something words already written for the story.

I think Inspiration Station is going to be the next novel I complete. I think it’s going to be a good one. I have high hopes for it, anyway.

Meet Leo!
Meet Leo!

Do you all remember when my flash drive died? I was upset and disappointed. Then I quickly realized it was for the best. I had so many novels started on there that were no where near being finished. Half of them didn’t even make sense and weren’t good at all.

So losing my flash drive made me feel as though I was starting completely over, but that wasn’t a bad thing. I told myself that I was going to work on only one novel at a time. Only when I completed the first draft I’d be able to move on. I need to finish what I start.

I was doing so well, then I realized the other day that I have been falling out of my routine. I have three novels started, four in desperate need to be edited, and more ideas attempting to push themselves out of my head. It’s annoying, actually.

I have been doing pretty good. I haven’t been starting anything new other than what I already have started. I’m in the mood for both Hunter & Comet and Union Academy. So I’m going to try to finish those first while trying to edit Hunter and Diary of a Lover at the same time. I just need to print out Diary of a Lover (and give it to Kris) while Hunter has a long way to go before I can give it to anyone else. As stated in my previous post, I figured out what is wrong with Hunter and I desperately need to fix it. So I’m going to do that and it’s most likely going to take a while.

Speaking of my flash drive dying…I know that conversation was a little while ago, but LOOK! This is my new flash drive. He’s rubber and small and adorable and 8GB! And he was 15 bucks. 😉

Lots Of Updates

Good News, Good News, And More Good News…

1. Back in June my oldest sister moved out of the house and in with her boyfriend. Now we have a vacant room upstairs, across the hall from my bedroom. Kris and I share a bedroom. We have shared this room since we were…very, very little. Not our whole lives, but just about. So naturally one of us would say, “I’ll move into Lisa’s room!” Then we would each have our bedroom and our own space. Yeah, no. Neither one of us even thought about having our own bedroom.

Instead we’re going to turn the bedroom into an office/video game sanctuary. Yes, it sounds counter productive, I know. An office is for working and video games are for goofing off, relaxing, and doing nothing. However, we feel as though we’ll figure something out.

My dad has a TV stand for us and Kris and I bought a brand new 39″ TV. It looks awesome! Of course…it’s still in the box. We have to re-do the floor and the walls in the room first. Then we can probably start decorating it. We each bought a desk, we bought a brand new printer (color, wireless, automatic two-sided printing!), Raph is going to move up there with us and we’re getting a new mascot! Yes, I am going to get fish soon. So we’ll have a turtle and three fish in the room with us. Then we’re going to have a couch–our uncle gave us his as he didn’t need it anymore. We wanted to get a mini refrigerator, but dad said no. Sad day.

The room is empty now. I can’t wait to see what it’s going to look like when we’re all done with it! We’re going to start working on the room soon.

2. Lately I have been working on three things. I have been editing Hunter and I have been going back and forth between writing Union Academy and Hunter & Comet. I have no idea which one is going to get finished first. Well, hopefully Hunter will be the one to get finished first…as that is the novel that is the farthest along. But I’ll guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Kris and I went to Barnes and Noble yesterday and I got a lot done. I tried to write Union Academy, but I have the character list on Donny, my iPod. I brought Donny. Donny was dead. Oops. So I couldn’t really write it because that novel had a lot of characters and I can’t keep them straight just yet.

So I ended up editing Hunter. I printed out the first draft, then my flash drive died. So I edited the hard copy and now I’m re-typing it. I can’t complain because as I’m re-typing it I’m finding a lot of mistakes I didn’t catch when I looked at it the first time around. Plus, I’m also adding and taking out things I didn’t before. It’s kind of like editing the second draft already.

I’m on page 50 typing it up on the computer. In the hard copy, I’m on page 41 or 42 or something like that. There’s at least a five-page difference between the two. But since the one on the computer is longer, that means I added a good amount of stuff. The question is, is all that stuff good and relevant to the story? Or did I throw it in there because I wanted to mark up the page a little more? We’ll have to wait and see when I finish typing it and print it out again.

3. I had an epiphany when it came to Hunter. I’m in the middle of typing up chapter three and I have mixed feelings on the plot. I can’t tell if the events in the chapters are just happening out of order, or if the novel is just moving too fast. No, I did not print out the novel and accidentally mix up some chapters. The pages are numbered and so are the chapters. I went to preschool. I teach preschool. So…I would hope I know how to count. Well, at least up to ten, anyway…that’s pretty much as high as we go.

Anyway, as I type up each chapter, I’m going to take index cards and summarize each chapter. One card for chapter one, another card for chapter two, etc. When I have all the chapters summarized and the whole novel re-typed, I’m going to play around with the cards and re-order them. Like a puzzle…this will be great because I suck at puzzles.

I just wonder which would be easier: play around with the cards, print out the second draft and re-order the chapters that way, or play around with the cards re-order the chapters on the computer, then print out the second draft. Although, I guess I can cross that bridge when I get to it. Right now I need to work on writing a gazillion summaries (not really, I think it’s only 18 chapters long…but each chapters is really looong…I don’t know why I did that to myself) and finish typing up the second draft.

4. Did I mention I’m getting fish? 😀

A Dumb Story

Here We Go…

So I realized that I haven’t really talked too much about my writing on here lately. I can’t really say that things haven’t been going well, but I guess they haven’t really been going all that great, either.

Ever since I got stuck with my novel Cybertra back in July for Camp NaNoWriMo, I’ve been kind of stuck on all of my writing. I’ve been trying, but I don’t really know what to do with myself.

I went on vacation for a week in July and that was one whole week that I didn’t write. I played Pokemon instead. So that also slowed me down a bit, too. But I can’t complain because I think I needed a break from writing for a little bit.

But when I came back from vacation I realized that I really needed to get back into the swing of things. I have three young adult novels completed, why aren’t I editing them? I have three other novels started, why aren’t I finishing them?

Kris and I went to Barnes and Noble together last week. I took out my laptop and was beside myself. What was I supposed to write? I had no idea. Kris found a cool writing prompt app on her phone in which we both downloaded. She wasn’t too sure what to write, either, so we each picked a prompt. Mine was, “Everything is ruined because…” Again, what was I supposed to write about?

In the end, I wrote a small short story that was about four pages long. I’ll post it on here tomorrow. It was probably the dumbest thing I had ever written in my life. I wasn’t too crazy about the way I had written it, the story line was kind of weird, and the characters were just…odd. It certainly was not my best work.

But it was soon after that that I began to write again. That same day at Barnes and Noble, I whipped out my Hunter & Comet story and wrote a little bit of that. Then, for some strange reason, I got into the mood of writing one of those cliche high school drama novels. I have a couple of ideas for those and ended up starting one. It’s called Union Academy. I have no idea what the plot really is…it’s just one of those drama stories where things never seem to go right for a group of high school girls.

The time we went to Barnes and Noble after that, the latest time we’ve gone, I ended up writing that. And I got a good chunk done, too. So I think I’m over my little writer’s block. Not only that, but I actually started editing Hunter again.

It just goes to show that whatever writing you’re stuck on, just write something, anything. Even if it’s terrible. And it will help.

Everybody Loves Comet

Comet

I know I have introduced you all to Comet before. He is one of the main characters in my middle grade series, Hunter & Comet. I have just started writing the first one, but I have a few books planned out…if the series takes off.

When my aunt died and my cousins “moved in” (I use quotes because they were over five days a week and slept over three nights a week), Comet tagged along, as well. Otherwise he would have had no company all day while my uncle was at work.

Hunter, my fat cat, and Comet acted as though they hated each other, but they loved each other deep down. One time, Comet didn’t come over for a whole week and Hunter did notice. The first day Comet came back, the two went right up to each other and Hunter gave him a pat on the head (without his claws). Comet didn’t growl at him, either.

The cat and dog were so funny together and it was always great to come up with random scenarios about what the two of them were doing and saying to each other. I loved to watch them interact with each other. This is where I came up with my idea for a novel series. It’s all based on Hunter and Comet from their point of view.

Comet was nick-named (by my mother) Sir Barksalot. As you can probably guess, Comet loved to hear himself talk. I always wondered just how quiet he was when no one was home. Then one day, I was home alone with Comet and my granddad came by. I knew because I heard Comet barking. Granddad said, “It’s funny because when I come by when no one is home, he doesn’t budge. But when someone is home, someone is here for him to protect, he acts all vicious.”

Comet also loved his bones. In his old age, he was getting a bit delusional and believed everyone was going to steal his bones. So he usually growled at you when you went near him, but he was still gentle. It just took him a moment to snap out of it. I think part of this was also because we got Chip, my mini dog, and she loved to take his bones away from him.

Comet just turned 11 this past July, which makes him 77 in dog years. However, he was still a puppy at heart. He loved to jump up on you (he was taller than me on his hind legs) and he sure ran around a lot when he was excited. It could have been because you gave him a bone or something as simple as you just saying hi to him and giving him a quick pat on the head.

However, with his old age came hardships. His hind legs had arthritis and he was recently diagnosed with cancer. The chemo treatments weren’t going too bad, but more complications were found. Comet became a hit-or-miss. He either laid on the floor without a bother or he seemed like his old self. But he stopped eating and it got to the point that my uncle had to force feed him. Comet was getting skinnier and skinnier every time I saw him. They found a blockage in his stomach.

As you can probably tell by me speaking in past tense, my inspiration of my novel series had to be put down this morning. Comet is no longer with us. They were able to help him with the blockage, but my uncle realized that Comet had been through enough. He needed to be put out of his misery.

No one is happy about the situation, but it was what was best for the dog. Comet is in a better place. We’ll all miss him, but we will certainly have no problem remembering him. He may be gone, but I am still going to go through with the series. I have plenty of memories to throw in and will be able to add in some fictional twists, as well. I think the series will be a great tribute to his 11 great years of dog-hood and being a wonderful companion and friend.

I Have Issues

Today Was  A Joke…

Today was the first day in a long time that I have nothing to do. So I told myself that I was going to wake up early, take a shower, and write. And write, and write, and write some more. Except things didn’t go exactly as planned.

I’m stuck.

I didn’t get a chance to write at all this past weekend. There were some times here and there I would have been able to squeeze some words in, but I didn’t. Normally I would have or if I didn’t, I would have been freaking out about why I didn’t get anything done. Not this time. I didn’t feel like writing and that was that.

I’m going to assume I burned myself out when it comes to writing. But this burn out couldn’t have come at another time? It’s in the middle of the July, I have Camp NaNo to finish. Not to mention I’m already losing next week because I’m going on vacation. I don’t need to lose two additional days.

So I told myself today was going to be an all day writing day. I can’t tell you how many words I have written because I literally have no idea. I am so burned out that every time I tried to write today, I said: “Screw it!”

I’m writing Cybertra for Camp NaNo and I’m ahead of the NaNo goal, but 11,000 words behind my own goal. Two days and I’m that far behind…what? I forced myself to write it and I got about 540 words done. Then I realized…I’m just not into the story anymore. I still love the characters, the plot is good, but…well, the plot isn’t going as well as expected. I feel like I want to keep the prologue then scrap the whole rest of the novel. But that’s over 20,000 words…is it worth it to do in the middle of Camp? Is it wort it to do it at all?

I heard (I forget where) that you should never delete your writing whether you’re going to use it or not. Good writing is writing and bad writing is still writing. Not to mention there might be something in there that you will like later on. I hate deleting things I write because then I just feel bad. I mean, it was a good idea at the time I wrote it, right?

So I didn’t delete it, but I’m definitely not going back to the story any time soon. Which is sad because I was in love with it when I first started. I think I just need a break. Maybe next month I can get back to it. But now how am I supposed to finish Camp NaNo?

I tried writing a couple of children’s picture books…I finished one, but it sucks. I attempted to write another, but I got about two lines in and that was that. I started Hunter & Comet, the first book of a middle grade series I want to write. I wrote about a page and couldn’t get into that, either.

I looked at my list of stories to write. Maybe I just need something brand new? None of those ideas appealed to me. At the moment, anyway. And I’m afraid to start any new young adult novels because I already have four that need to be edited.

I tried writing some FanFiction. I wrote about a page then quit.

It’s about four o’clock in the afternoon, I have to get something written. I want to get something written. But it’s not going so well. And I’m afraid today is going to be a bit of a waste since I’m probably not going to have another day to write all day like this one in a long time.

What An Interesting Day

June 3 and June 4, 2013…

Yesterday, June 3, I had a very productive day. A few nights ago I began to edit my novel Hunter. I got half way through page four and then stopped. As you all should know, I hate editing. It’s a tedious process for me and I wish I could wave my magic wand and the novel will be perfect and ready to be published. However, I seemed to have misplaced my wand. How sad.

Chapter one was sixteen pages long so I didn’t even get halfway through the chapter. So yesterday I decided that I was going to finish chapter one at the very least. And I did.

Of course I wanted to get more done, but I didn’t have the time to. I had to get my cousins ready for school, so I was up early and started editing as soon as they left the house which was at 8:00 in the morning. However, I finished editing Diary of a Lover not too long ago and we just bought more ink for the printer so I decided to print it out. It wasn’t until 9:30 that I finally finished wrangling with the printhead of the printer that I gave up. Yes, I said I gave up instead of fixed. It’s still broken and I have no idea what I did. My mom said we’re probably going to have to buy a new computer. So in the meantime, Diary of a Lover is going to collect dust in my flash drive for a little while.

On top of that, I had Raph out of her tank and she kept peeing all over the floor. Not really, it was only twice because I had her walking around for about five hours, so I guess I can’t blame her. But she also kept getting into little nooks and crannies and kept getting stuck and flipping onto her shell. Granted, she can flip herself back over but it still makes me jump out of my seat and panic just in case. Not to mention that Chip kept crying, Hunter kept jumping on and off of my desk, and Comet kept barking. Everyone was at work and school so I expected to have a quiet house to myself. Not when you have two dogs, a cat, and a turtle, apparently.

However, I got through the first chapter of Hunter and I was going to continue, but then I realized that I had a lot to do on my other website Spilled Ink. I figured I could do things on there and get through another couple of pages. The next thing I knew I had to go to work. But at least I got what I wanted to get done.

Today, I took the day off from work because I had a dentist appointment and Kris had the day off, too. So we went to Barnes and Noble. She worked o her novel while I edited Hunter. I wanted to edit two chapters. The only problem with that was that the second chapter was over twenty pages long. Not only do I read slow, but I ripped apart the first chapter and I planned on doing the same to the second chapter, and it was over twenty pages long. Needless to say I only got through chapter two and that alone took me three hours.

I plan on getting the third chapter edited by the end of the night. I decided to come post on here before I started editing. I haven’t posted in a few days…or maybe I’m just stalling?

Not Productive

Today Was A Bust…

Today my sister and I went to Barnes and Noble. We went about our normal routine; we went to Dunkin’ Donuts for breakfast, Starbucks for drinks, and Barnes and Noble to write. However, we weren’t there for any more than an hour when my dad called. We switched from Verizon to Comcast today and with Comet and Chip at home, he didn’t want to shut them in the bedroom and listen to them bark all afternoon. My sister and I ended up going home and taking the dogs to Nanny’s house where we stayed for about an hour and a half. They have no wi-fi, either so we couldn’t work on our writing at all.

By then, the guy was still at our house, but I had to go to work. So we went back to my house, leaving the dogs, I grabbed my things and went to work. When I got home from work, I had to re-connect the internet and now my laptop is being extremely slow. I assume it’s just trying to get used to the new connection, or I’m hoping so anyway. However, I am in no mood to write now.

While we were at Barnes and Noble, I did write a tiny bit, but it was under 1,000 words. And I never wrote yesterday, so I feel like I’m a bit behind. And because of that, I’m beginning to get annoyed at my writing. I have three novels completed and never bothered to edit any of them.

Well, that’s not true. I’m on the seventh draft of Diary of a Lover, but I never once edited Hunter, which I finished back in August of 2011. Saving Each Other I just finished less than a month ago, so I’m not going to get back into that just yet…I’m kind of sick of those characters.

However, I do have three children’s books that are completed, edited and all, but I don’t bother trying to get them published. Why? I don’t know. That’s what I think I’m going to do when I finish this post. I think I’m going to try searching for publishers and such. At least if I get those three children’s books out there, I would get my foot in the door for whenever I publish a novel, the extra money would be a plus, and maybe it would motivate me a little more to get something else out there.

I asked my sister to edit Hunter the other day. She hasn’t started, yet, but I’m hoping that once she edits it, it will motivate me to edit it and keep at it. Honestly, I wrote that so long ago I don’t even remember what happens in the book. It’s quite sad.

I told myself that, because I’m so into The Blank Page right now, I’m going to finish it. Then once I finish it, I’m going to work strictly on editing for a little while. I know my new year’s resolution was to write more, but editing is a big part of writing, even if I’m not adding word after word after word. It’ll suck because I absolutely hate editing, but if it needs to get done, then I’m going to get it done.

I’m not going to write anymore tonight because I am just not in the mood and I know if I force myself, I’m going to mess up the entire novel. Hopefully, I’ll get back into it tomorrow morning. I had a good routine going: I woke up early every morning, worked on my websites for a bit, wrote for an hour, and then posted on here. I have not done that since Tuesday…but Tuesday I had no school and no work and nothing to do, so I kind of wanted to take advantage of the fact that I could have stayed in bed for the entire day. With all the crap I have been doing lately, no one can blame me for that.

On a good note, I did start my resolution about reading more. Does everyone know the series Warriors by Erin Hunter? Well, there are so many books that I have lost count, but I do have most of them. I have read a few, but I decided to re-read them…especially because one of my RPG websites are based after this series. Last year, I read the first five books, so I decided to start reading them again starting with the sixth book. If I didn’t have work or anything else going on in my life right now, I would have finished it the day I started it. But we’ll take baby steps.

I’ll talk to you all tomorrow…hopefully after I write for an hour. I have work at 1:30 tomorrow, so if I get up early enough maybe I can do a little extra. That would be nice!

Very Productive

I’m Doing Good…

Before I update about my writing, I just wanted to throw this out there:

My sister and I admin quite a few RPG websites together, as you all should know. All the links for these websites are on my Come Find Me page on this blog. However, one of these websites is an RPG for the book series Warriors by Erin Hunter. If any of you know of these books, read them, and enjoy them, please consider joining our website. We’ve been very active lately and we’re looking for new members as we don’t have that many. It would be great to RP with some new faces. The website is called Stars Vs. Gems. Plus, if you enjoy writing, role-playing is great practice. If anyone is interested, please go there and check it out. If you join, that’s fantastic! Thank you. If you don’t, well thank you for checking it out, anyway. 🙂

Alright, now onto the good stuff!

I set a timer for myself this morning to write for one hour. I have work this afternoon and then I have a wake to go to right after, so I knew that I was going to have no time to get anything done tonight. I set aside an hour for myself to get some writing done hoping that I could get a lot done in an hour. I have to admit that I didn’t write for the whole half hour because when I had about twenty minutes left, Comet, my dog, decided to storm into the basement and demand that I take him outside so he could pee. How can anyone say no to that? Especially when he’s a golden retriever and he’s bigger than you when he jumps up on you.

Anyway, when I came back in from outside, I wrote for a little longer because I had about ten more minutes left. Then I decided to stop when I had about two minutes left because I ended at a good spot. I could have kept on writing, but I wanted to post on here and I have a few other things that I need to get done before I go to work.

I’m happy to say that I made it to 8,193 words though. 🙂 Because I’m doing a fake NaNo, that means I got passed today’s word count and tomorrow’s word count. Of course, I’m still going to write tomorrow because I need to keep this up and get myself into the habit of doing this. Plus, tomorrow is Saturday and I have absolutely nothing going on tomorrow. Which is good because then I can get a lot of writing done…Sunday is going to be a very busy day for me so I don’t know how much writing I’m going to be able to get done.

The Blank Page is going really well. I am still in love with the characters and even though I never planned out this novel, it’s actually moving along. Dominic’s story is making a lot of sense, which is good. I haven’t really talked about Justin or Adair’s stories yet, so we’ll see how those work out. I was also thinking that I might write these three novels for real. I can post them on here as well as FictionPress. I have an account on there, you can go to the Come Find Me page…again. Of course, it might not be for a while that I actually write those stories because it’s not like I’m going to get them published or anything. I want to focus more on getting a couple novels published first. Maybe I’ll work on those stories bit by bit while I write the Writers Group saga and when the series is all done, I’ll start posting chapters from the three novels.

That’s all for today, but to close this post I just wanted to say something about a man who recently passed away: I know none of you will know who I am talking about, but as you may have noticed, I said I’m going to a wake tonight. The man who passed away was named Dick. Dick was a wonderful old man from my church. He was the nicest person you would ever meet. He came to church every Sunday and was known by everyone. He tried his best, and always succeeded, in helping everyone. No matter what the issue, he was always there to help figure it out. He had a heart of gold and was extremely smart. He had a love of geology and definitely knew his stuff. Dick went peacefully in his sleep early Wednesday morning losing his long battle with lung cancer. He had been sick for years and was housebound due to this illness. Although he’s in a better place, we all miss him terribly. If you’re religious, even though you never knew the man, feel free to send a quick prayer to Heaven for his wife, children, and grandchildren. Thank you.

On that note, I’ll update again tomorrow. Try to stay warm and if you’re living someplace warm, then…I hate you. Have a nice day. 🙂

Home Alone

Not Really, I Got The Two Dogs, Cat, and Turtle…

Comet is actually being quiet right now…I gave him a bone, that’s why. Chip is whining because I did not give her a bone. The reason for that is because she has about a million bones hidden throughout this house. If she really wants a bone, she can use that tiny powerful nose God gave her and find at least one of the many bones. I know she has at least two…one is buried in my pillow and the other is buried in my blankets. Damn dog. Hunter is howling at absolutely nothing, but I think it’s just too quiet for him…or maybe he thinks he’s home alone. I don’t know why he cries like that. Raph, I think, is finally going into “hibernation mode” like she should have a couple weeks ago when the weather started getting cold, but instead she got more hyper.

She flipped her house over and then began using it as a playground…

Right. She should not be doing that in the fall. However, I noticed that she has been “redecorating” less and has not been trying to walk through the tank glass as much to get out. I think she thinks she can walk through walls. No, instead she has been like this:

On her way into the pool…then she said, “nope” and wasn’t having it.

Yes, she was in that position for a very long time. Of course, as I type this, she is knocking on the glass shouting, “Let me out!” I can’t complain, though. I like working while she’s walking around. I feel as though I have company. This is what it comes down to…I have no friends.

Just kidding, I do. But they’re all at school right now. You wanna know why I’m not at school? I only had one class today and it was cancelled. I am super excited! Not because I was able to sleep in, no, because it was my health class. And my teacher for my health class bites. I mean today we were supposed to meet in the library to do research on our projects. Of course, I’m doing something else that I will not go into because it’s a long story, but to keep it short and sweet, I’m exempt from the project. So I don’t even know what I would be doing, anyway. It would probably have been nothing.

But this is great because now I have the whole day to myself…well, until I have to go to work. But I would much rather be at work than go to school…especially when I have health. What am I to do with myself? I could go some more homework done so I have less to do while working on NaNo. I could work on outlining my NaNo some more. I could clean, I could sing and dance, I could play video games…preferably Pokemon. But I just don’t know because I am just way too excited right now!

Speaking of NaNo, I am outlining Saving Each Other (SEO) and I decided that I might as well write it for NaNo. It’s almost the middle of October and I don’t know how long it will take me to outline SEO plus another novel and then decide between the two. I’m on chapter twelve for SEO and I have no idea how many more chapters there will be.

The other reason as to why I decided to write it for NaNo is because I was thinking a lot about it the other day…well, yesterday. In the shower. I don’t know about any of you people out there, but I do my best thinking when I am in the shower…or trying to sleep. Which is probably why I never actually sleep…huh. Anyway, in the shower I was thinking about the novel and thinking about the outline and realized, “I’m on chapter twelve, but really, nothing’s happened yet.” I mean, let’s face it: at this point, I’ll be on chapter 100 and the plot will just be beginning. Then I realized…what is the plot?

Seriously, I really had to ask myself this question. I honestly had no idea what the plot was. I came up with a cool title, I made up some awesome characters, I even came up with a cover for the novel. But what is the plot? Someone is after them, yes, I understand that. But who? And why? I got nothing. But when I was in the shower, I came up with a wonderful idea. I am not going to tell you what that idea is because I don’t want to give anything away, but…I guess you could say that it’s kind of “cliche” for a fantasy novel. But that’s alright, because I have tricks up my sleeve.

The summary for SEO is in the post right below this one…just so you know. So scroll down. A lot. Or…turn to the last page or something, I don’t really know how my blog works…I never really look at the finished product. I just type, proofread on here and hit “publish.” The summary was something quick I whipped up for you guys. It’s not the “final” summary and still needs a bit of work. Just a warning…

So I still don’t know what I am going to do with myself today, but I know first things first: get some more coffee. I drank it all while writing this. Don’t worry…it’s decaf. We ran out of caffeinated. Boo. 🙁
