I’ve been writing since I was 10-years-old because I wanted to copy my older sister. Originally starting with Ninja Turtle fan fiction, writing stuck with me throughout the years as I honed my skills in the craft and let my imagination run wild. I like to write in a few different genres, though I mostly write mystery as well as short stories and/or flash fiction.
I’ve posted a couple of novellas on Wattpad and I’ve also stepped into the self-publishing world. My debut book, Sunday Morning: A Collection of 52 Flash Fiction made its debut in spring 2019. You can find it on Amazon and a few other places as well.
In addition to this blog, another outlet I use for my writing is my Patreon page. You’re more than welcome to check it as it’ll give you access to an exclusive community, locked blog posts on here, the inside scoop of my upcoming books, and more.
This blog began in May 2012. I wanted to use it as an author platform and to share my creative writing with the world. It’s grown so much since then, more than I ever imagined. I’ve met so many wonderful people and have learned so much about writing, blogging, business, and more. It will first and foremost be an author platform and for readers and writers, but I’m aiming for it to be a place for all creators. This blog has a lot to offer and there’s a lot to check out, such as articles about:
In addition to this blog, I also run a video game website with my sister called Double Jump. As an extra way to reach out to the gaming community, we also live stream on Twitch. My sister and I are both writers and gamers and all are welcome, so feel free to join us on Twitch sometime.
I’m an avid reader and book reviewer on this blog as well as for the Indie Reader. I post reviews of all books I read on this blog, Goodreads, and Amazon. I enjoy an array of genres, though I have my favorites such as cozy mystery and the middle-grade age.
I have a Kindle, though I prefer reading paperback copies. Still, I read a book in any format I can get my hands on. I love reading books newly published and ones that have been on the shelves for a little while so my book reviews may be all over the place in terms of the release date. I like to read whatever I’m in the mood for.
If you’re an author, publicist, or publisher, I’d love to check out your books.
I love books, I love writing. I know how hard it is to market your book and self-promote. I enjoy promoting other authors and help spread the word about their book babies and share the hard work they’ve put into writing and publishing a book.
In addition to helping authors promote their books, I can help out in other ways. I’ve learned a lot over the years and while I’m always learning new things, I love to share the knowledge with others.
The Merry Writer is a hashtag game for the writing community on Twitter and Instagram. My friend Ari Meghlen began the game in June 2018 and I joined as her co-host in July 2018. Almost two years later, in April 2020, we turned the game into a podcast.
The Merry Writer Podcast is us, two chatty authors, discussing all things about writing and reading. It’s a fun project and another great way to connect with people in the writing community.
I’m a lot of things but I’m much more than just a writer and reader. I’m a daughter, sister, aunt, Godmother, and mother (to a dog, cat, and turtle).
If I’m not writing, reading, or playing video games, I’m usually playing with my pets, cleaning the house, or going for a walk. You can learn more about me on my Patreon page and various social media.
You’re welcome! I had fun doing it, hopefully you will too 🙂
Thanks for stopping by my blog. It never ceases to amaze and enthrall me. I’m probably way too old for this, but I am trying to learn some new tricks. good luck with the writing. Best advice I ever heard. You can’t want to be a writer. If you are a writing, you are a writer. Now, getting paid, that’s a whole ‘nother story …
Very true! I would live to write full time, though. Thank you so much for stopping by!
Just keep writing. talent is a small part. It’s mostly a skill, muscle to be built. the more use use the muscle the greater the skill you develop. Find a voice, keep it simple, read every word you write out loud. Every word, if it sits well on your tongue it will read well in the mind’s ear.
Keep the faith
dC
Thank you for the advice! 🙂
Anytime.

Hi Rachel! Thank you so much for “liking” the bio page on my author’s site. I’m still tweaking the site, and I’ve now set up the bio information as a permanent Home Page. Unfortunately, when I did that, it dropped your “like.” 🙁
I’ve been looking through your site, and you’re a remarkable young woman. You obviously sense the adventure that is life!
Aw…well I’ll keep checking back to your blog. 🙂
Thank you for the compliment and for stopping by!
Hey Rachel, thank you so much for liking my blog post. 🙂
You have a great blog! 🙂
Hey! Thanks for taking time to stop by and check out my blog! Reading this specific post, I couldn’t help but notice that we have quite a few things in common! We’ve got a full house here where I live as well–there’s 6 of us. I sing all the time, but you’re right, with the music volume turned to max it’s pretty hard to decipher if it can actually be said that I know how! Writing is the main attraction though! I love it! Never make the time for it like I should, but that’s a work in progress [: good luck with everything! I saw that you’re doing NaNoWriMo, so super super good luck with that as well [:
I don’t make the time for writing as much as I should, either. I’m trying, though and I think I’m doing much better at it than I was. I hope you get into a good routine with it. Thank you. 🙂
Hey, thanks for visiting my site! I love what you’re doing with his blog and I look forward to reading more of your posts. I also added you as a buddy on the NaNo site!
No problem. 🙂
Yay, I love having Writing Buddies! 🙂

Thanks, I love doing these! Although, I’ll admit I probably won’t have it done for another few days or so. 😉
Thanks for stopping by my blog! Keep up the writing!
Thanks! 🙂

Thanks so much for the nomination! 🙂
I can relate to many of those – especially reader, writer and animal lover. Dogs are the best!!!
Lol, I have to admit I think I’m more of a cat person myself. My cat tends to follow me around and my dog tends to follow my sister around.
Hi Rachel I am Dan nice to meet you. I love to write. I’ve written over 450 short stories in the past two years. If you would like to read some of my work they are on my wordpress http://www.curleymania.wordpress.com. Look forward to reading more of your work and good luck in school!

Hi Rachel,
I’ve nominated you for the Liebster Award. I know you’ve already been nominated before, but I really wanted to get to know some bloggers/writers like you better, since I’m relatively new to the blogging community. I hope you’ll accept, but I also understand if you don’t!
The details of the nomination are here: http://sohinikumar.com/2015/06/13/the-liebster-award/
All the best,

You’re from Massachusetts too?! That’s awesome!!!
Lol, I assume you are too. In the past few years I’ve been blogging, I think you’re the first person who’s in the same area as me.
I am! Oh, so you’re a professional blogger?! Yeah, that’s what I like about WordPress lol you rarely come across people from the same area as you 🙂
I am far from a professional blogger, lol. I just meant that I’ve had my blog since May… 2012? I think. But I did just start blogging regularly this year. But that’d be awesome if I was a professional blogger!
I love WordPress. I think it’s the best. Most of my friends on here are outside the U.S.
That’s a long time! I’ve only had my blog since last year I think. It really would be awesome if we were professional bloggers!
I know! We get to interact with people from different parts of the world. It doesn’t get any better than that!
Maybe someday we’ll become professionals. 🙂
Absolutely! Let’s just make it a habit to blog and interact often 🙂
Sounds good to me. 🙂
Keep in touch!
Will do!
Good!
Good luck with your dream of being published. I’m sure you’ll achieve it 🙂
Thanks a lot! I’m getting closer each and every day. 🙂
That’s fantastic to hear 🙂
Lovely to meet you Rachel. Great ‘about’. I am very impressed that you have written six YA books and two picture books – what great experience and dedication. Good luck in finding publishers/self-publish. I loved the gaming section, my son is mad on all those games but particularly now the Ace Attorney series – I’m told there are two new ones out soon so he’s keeping his fingers crossed for Christmas. He’s learnt many the music pieces by ear to play on his keyboard.
Thank you and thanks for stopping by. 🙂
I love the Ace Attorney games! I actually heard that one of the new games may not be released where we are–unless you live someplace else. I’m in the U.S.
If your son likes music, tell him to check out Smooth McGroove on YouTube. He does a Capella versions of video games music and he has three songs from Ace Attorney on there. It’s great!
My son says yes, he’s also heard that The Great Ace Attorney set in 1800s might not be released. Don’t know why not. He’s looking forward to Ace Attonery 6 being shown this September at the Toyko Game Show. As to the YouTube you mention, he knew about that and said it is amazing. Have a good day. 😃
I’m excited for Ace Attorney 6! I hope they decide to release The Great Attorney here.
Thanks, you have a great one as well! 🙂
Hey Rachel how have you been. Are you getting any closer to getting published. I have been having fun writing a scary horror book dedicated to Wes Craven. I haven’t written a book in 5 years just short stories. 5 years ago I transitioned from scary horror to light comedic romantic horror and I mostly did that but after Christopher Lee and Wes Craven died this year being a life long fan of horror and having written scary horror books it brought me back to the genre. I named in tribute one character after Wes Craven and one after Christopher Lee. I wrote ten horror books between 2007-2010 all a lot of fun and writing this new book has been a lot of fun. It’s really scary but that is what it is meant to be. Hope you are well.
Wow, it sounds like you’ve been busy! I wish you well with your short stories and novels. Christopher and Wes will surely be missed!
I’m in the editing stages of my novel, so I’m hoping to start querying next year.
Thanks for the well wishes and good luck to you as well! 🙂
Thanks good luck I know you will get your published! Just keep working hard!
