This was certainly a fun comic to read. I don’t know much about Thor (other than what’s in the MCU) and I have heard of a female Thor but I never knew anything about her.

This comic brings some insight on that. Thor is no longer worthy of his hammer and, while everyone tries to pick it up, there’s only one who can wield its power. She’s able to take the hammer without anyone noticing and she wears a mask, so no one knows her identity.

I thought she was a certain character for a while until the story proved me wrong later on. It was intriguing to figure out who she was (and also fun to watch Thor try to figure out who she is).

This comic is, of course, packed with action and witty dialogue. I know these characters came before the MCU but they had the same voice and tone as their characters on-screen and that was nice to see as it was familiar.

Writing Style

Thor, Volume 1: The Goddess of Thunder by Jason Aaron is a fun installment of Thor’s story. While it wasn’t mainly about the God of Thunder, I found it delightful to follow a female superhero – even if she became so accidentally.

  1. Glad to know you enjoyed this. I’ve recently been looking for print copies of this to read before the next Thor film comes out. Then I decided to read Jason Aaron’s entire Thor run, because I’m a completist. So I’m starting from the beginning.
