I bought a hardcover copy a long time ago.

After the sharp-eyed Jay and the roaring Lion, peace will come on Dove’s gentle wing.

The deadly battle between ThunderClan and ShadowClan is over, but the aftermath still echoes around all four Clans. As Dovepaw grapples with the knowledge that there are realms–and cats–her senses cannot reach, Jayfeather and Lionblaze are determined to figure out how StarClan could have allowed this fight to happen. Jayfeather soon finds the answer in the darkest of places, and he and Lionblaze prepare to do whatever they can to staunch the flow of evil into ThunderClan.

The ties that bind the Clans are slowly breaking in the face of the greatest threat that the warriors–and the warrior code–have ever known. As leaf-bare closes its grip upon the territories, Jayfeather, Lionblaze, and Dovepaw realize just how close the battle is, and how far they are from being able to succeed. And before the prey can run again, one more cat will be lost to the fight.

My Review:

Book Cover | RachelPoli.comThe cover has been updated since the book was originally released, but I do enjoy the first edition. It’s simple, showcasing one of the main cats the book is about, with some context clues in the background. It’s not as pretty as the new cover, but as always, it’s well done.

Plot | RachelPoli.comA lot of this book revolves around the characters wondering if they did the right then when they decided to battle against ShadowClan in the previous book. They have doubts and are unsure of where to get next, especially since StarClan is telling them to break up and not converse with the other Clans anymore – not even the medicine cats.

The stakes are raised in this book and there are a lot of tense moments, which really sucked me into the plot.

Characters | RachelPoli.comThis book focused a lot more on Ivypaw as she’s the one being manipulated by the cats in the Dark Forest. Dovepaw and Ivypaw find out each other’s secrets and try to deal with them in the middle of surviving each day while trying to figure out the prophecy.

As always, these characters are fun to revisit and I enjoy following the two sisters alongside Lionblaze and Jayfeather, the two brothers, as they figure out how to help their Clan.

Writing Style | RachelPoli.com

The writing style is similar to the other books. Some of the chapters are longer than others, but each one is a quick read and I found myself always turning the pages. The book left off on a deep cliffhanger with a surprise death that completely shocked me and threw me for a loop. So that was very well done.

Overall | RachelPoli.comThis was probably my favorite book of Omen of the Stars so far. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

  1. I love Warriors and I think you did an AWESOME review for this book. I have read every book Erin Hunter has written in this series and I still re-read it alot. If you’ve made it this far…I have to ask…who’s your favorite warriors cat?

    • Yay! Someone else who’s obbessed with the series!

I still have to read Dawn of the Clans. The very first book came out when I was 11, but I’ve gotten behind in the series along the years (clearly.) That’s why I’m reading them all now to prep for The Broken Code.

I got Lost Stars, but will be reading the prequel before. I have to wait six months or so for the second book for The Broken Code, so I figured I’d hold off on the first for now, lol.

As for my favorite cat… Firestar. Sounds cliche, but Firestar. Though I also really love Alderheart and I think he’ll take the Clans really far.

What about you? Also, did you get Lost Stars yet?

      • (Sry it took so long to reply) Alot of people like Firestar…he’s a cool cat. I don’t think I’ve read Lost Stars yet… I’m ashamed with myself, lol. My fav cat is super hard… I loved Silverstream and Spottedleaf, but they both died. (I cried so hard when I read that they died) So… with sadness…I moved on and my fav cat is now Leafpool. Have you read about her yet?

        • Silverstream and Spottedleaf were amazing, I agree. Leafpool is awesome as well. I’ve caught up on the series now except for Dawn of the Clans. I haven’t started Lost Stars yet. Though when I looked at the list of cats at the beginning of Lost Stars I noticed a certain cat was missing who was there at the end of the previous series… so I’m a bit nervous to read it, lol.

          • I’m going to have to look into Lost Stars…It aggrivates me that I haven’t read it yet! XD Leafpool to me is awesome, she and I are SO alike! I love how she was brave enough to leave her clan with Crowfeather for love, and even braver to return for loyalty. I fell like she and Crowfeather were such a cute couple though, lol. Someone is missing…oh no….This just got serious. I have to find this book…

So you like cats? Have you read any other series Erin Hunter has written?

            • Right?! Me too. The book is staring me down, lol. But yeah, go find the book asap!

I love cats, yeah. I have Seekers and Survivors, but haven’t read them yet. Bravelands is on the TBR list as well. What about you?

              • I’ve read every Survivors book and I’m impatiently waiting for the next one, lol. I’ve read every Seeker book, but I prefer Survivors and Warriors over Seekers. I have read the first Bravelands book, and it looks pretty good, I can’t wait to read the next one…I have to order it…

I’ve looked into your book and it’s really good. I’m going to order it, I really want to read it!

If you look at my blog- Talons of Elements, I’ve written a few stories about animals. If you like Warriors and Survivors, I think you’ll like my stories.

                • I didn’t think Seekers did well since the series ended fairly quickly. A couple of the manga books got canceled, too. I still want to give them a read though. Once I catch up with Warriors I’ll be reading Survivors next.

Thank you! That means a lot. 🙂

Is that blog the Animal Prints link? That’s what’s linked to your comments.

                  • Oh, Animal Prints is my blog, yes. Talons of Elements is a blog I share with a friend. Lol, I should have cleared that up first. Animal Prints is about animal facts, Talons of Elements is where she and I have fun and write stories we think up. The link forTalons of Elements is: talonsofelements.home.blog.

                    • Ah, okay! Thanks for the link. (I asked for it in another comment, so just ignore that, lol.)
