Ah, I need to get back into contest submissions. Best of luck to you!
I know, right? I feel like we both say this every time I post this, lol.
Haha yeah. I’m a broken record on repeat. 😛
FYI: Narrative seems to have a different reading fee depending on the type of submission. You can go to the submission page and enter in the type, then scroll down to the bottom to see what payment they expect. For example, under “general submissions” the fee is $26 whether you submit a short story, short short, or novella, whereas for “story of the week” the fee is $23.
I didn’t notice they had listed them. It wasn’t there before, lol. Thanks for pointing that out!
You have to pretend you’re ready to submit in order for them to show you the price — and then you have to know to scroll down to the bottom and check it, before you’ve gone through all the trouble of filling out the application. It’s a little annoying of them, I think, not to be more upfront about that.
It totally is. They’re contests are that way as well. For a while they didn’t have the prices for the general submissions and I just never updated on the post.
Elsewhere they only say that they charge a “nominal” fee. But $26 is not exactly chump change!
No, it’s not! I try to find places that have no fee or are very little, but that’s getting harder and harder. I’m always open to hearing about other places to add to the list, should you ever come across any. 🙂
