August 2018 [Wrap Up]

August 2018 Wrap Up | Creative Writing | Reading | Blogging |

I was in a bit of a reading slump this month. I read a lot of quick stories such as craft books and comics. Reading is reading and it was all good, but I’m hoping to get back into the novel world soon enough. Time has escaped me this month so it was harder for me to keep up with the reading. You can check out my Reading List to see which books I’ve read and reviewed this month as well as check out my Goodreads to keep up with what I’m currently reading… though I have to update it. I’ve even gotten behind with that.

Writing proved to be difficult this month as well. I did a lot of planning and brainstorming for various projects, but overall time got away. I did a lot of socializing with friends and family and writing took a backseat. Not a bad thing, but I’m ready to get back into a routine.

I kind of got out of my blogging routine as well. August was filled with real-life things going on so my virtual life was sort of non-existent. I made progress though and my posts for September are almost done. So that’s something.

August was a good month – not really work-wise, but it was a good month to get together with friends and family as well as reflect on everything else. We’ll see how September goes!

  1. Glad you had a great time socializing, even if it messed up your plans for the month a bit. Getting together with friends is a good thing.

My month didn’t go at all to plan. I got my children’s story released in eBook, and the paperback is heading to retail. Plus, a couple more of my books are now available in audio. I also managed to catch up on my reading goal for the year by a few books. Unfortunately, I also ended up with another weekend in hospital having blood transfusions, and was bad enough this time to also get a couple of iron transfusions, which messed up my writing plans. Luckily, I still had several pre-scheduled blog posts to fall back on, so was able to keep up with my blogging schedule. So, some good points, and some bad.

  2. August was a slow month for me too. I didn’t spend as much time as I wanted on writing. I started a short story and was working on revisions. But I haven’t finished. There was, and still is, a lot going on and it’s been hard to concentrate on writing. So I decided to take a break. I don’t know how long it will last, but hopefully this will give me a chance to come up with some new stories.

    • Taking a break is probably your best bet then. No sense in trying to force it among everything else. Hopefully things are better now. 🙂
