WIP Wednesday 1 [NaNoWriMo 2017]

I’m adding a new feature to my blog! It’s just what the title suggests, WIP Wednesday – or Work In Progres Wednesday.

This will be something that will be posted on one Wednesday a month, most likely in the middle of the month. For November, though, I’ll be posting it every Wednesday to give an update on my NaNo novel for you guys.

With that said, here’s the first one.

WIP Wednesday

What am I working on?

The Librarian. I’m not sure if this will be a full novel or just a novella, but I plan on publishing it to Wattpad in January 2018.

What’s the easiest part of writing this novel?

The actual writing. Even though I don’t have an outline this time around, I haven’t written a novel in such a long time. It feels good!

What’s the hardest part of writing this novel?

The plot. While the words have been flowing well, I still don’t have an outline. As I write, I’ve been getting more and more ideas. And those ideas require research. A lot of research. I mean, this is a topic I never thought I would ever write about. So we’ll see how it goes.

NaNoWriMo Stats

Day 1: 4,094
Day 2: 2,017
Day 3: 4,573
Day 4: 2,052
Day 5: 2,384
Day 6: 2,034
Day 7: 2,921
Total Words: 20,075

So far so good.

I’m proud that I was able to reach 20k words, almost halfway there, in week one. On Friday, November 10th, Kris and I are going to be doing a 10k day! So I’m hoping that by the time the weekend officially begins, I’ll have 35k or so words.

How is NaNo treating you so far? What are you currently working on? Let me know in the comments below and we’ll chat!

  1. Woohoo! Looking forward to this segment. I think I’m going to do the same actually, have a WIP day to spur me on to write consistently.

Well done on your NaNo progress and with such an amazing word count already. I’m at about 15k words so I’m catching up haha.

Enjoy the rest of it and looking forward to more WIP Wednesdays. 🙂

    1. I definitely think the WIP days will keep me accountable for what I say on this blog. I always say I’ll do stuff and then make excuses as to why I didn’t do it, lol.

15k is great! Goob job! I noticed you posted an update, I have to go check it out (I’ve been seriously slacking in the “commenting on other blogs” department…)

      Thanks! 🙂

      1. Don’t worry I’ve been slacking too. My wordpress unread email notifications were sitting on over 100 :O So I’ve been catching up these last three days.

And yes we’re going to keep you accountable!!

      2. Oh, no! That I can keep up with because I have the WordPress app and the red notification bothers me. So I always look just to get rid of it, lol.

Oh, great… lol. I’m already panicking about it enough. xD

  2. Woot! This is similar to what I’ve been doing with my Shifters & Mages updates… that I haven’t been doing… lol I’m excited about the new segment and looking forward to your new work. 🙂

  3. I like the idea of a WIP Wednesday, I often find that I work better when I know that I have to publish my progress somewhere.
I’m ahead at the moment on my NaNoWriMo word count because I know I will have less time towards the end of the month, but I have really started to get into my story now so it feels good.

    1. Thanks, it definitely helps to hold yourself accountable.

That’s good. I’m doing the same thing because once Thanksgiving hits, I’m not really going to be writing much.

  4. Wow! You are doing really well with your word count!

For some reason I chose to do a historical fiction for Nanowrimo, which leads me to have to stop writing to do research (the saddest part is that I’ve made this mistake before!). But I feel like I have a good structure in mind for the novel. I’m maintaining word count, hopefully I will be able to get some larger chunks of writing done this weekend!

    1. Thanks!

I actually have to do a fair amount of research for mine as well… I just haven’t yet. Editing isn’t going to be fun. But as long as you’re able to keep up with the word count, that’s great.

Let me know what you think!
