Title: Julie and Julia
Starring: Meryl Streep, Amy Adams
Rating: PG-13
Summary (from back of DVD):
A culinary legend provides a frustrated office worker with a new recipe for life in Julie and Julia, the true stories of how Julia Child’s (Meryl Streep) life and cookbook inspired fledgling writer Julie Powell (Amy Adams) to whip up 524 recipes in 365 days and introduce a new generation to the magic of French cooking.
My Review:
I’ve seen this movie a couple of times. I love Meryl Streep, I love Amy Adams. Julia (Streep) was a fun character to follow. Julie (Adams) was an inspiring character, though she could be a bit annoying at times.
What I love about this movie is that while it’s about cooking it’s also about blogging and writing.
I don’t cook often, though it’s always been something I’m interested in. I think the idea of a cooking blog is an awesome idea.
Though what I love about this movie is that Julie had a dream to be a writer. She didn’t know how to get there, she didn’t know how to make a name for herself. So she started off with a blog and a challenge to herself. A challenge to cook for the world.
Meanwhile we get scenes with Julia, who also has dreams of being a writer, but she wants to publish cookbooks. She works with her friends to create a French cookbook and tries to get it published.
Julie found her dreams through Julia’s dreams, which is a cool connection.
If you’re ever feeling down about your own dreams or your own blog, go ahead and watch this movie. It will certainly lift your spirits.
Julie and Julia gets 5 out of 5 stars.
Would I recommend? Yes.
Meryl Streep and Amy Adams are two of my favourite actresses, never seen either of them give a bad performance.
They’re both very good, I agree!
Meryl Streep especially is such a chameleon when acting.
She really is. It’s awesome.
My first blog was inspired by this film!!!!
That’s awesome! 🙂
I love this film! It’s one of my ‘go to’ movies when I need a lift – it still hasn’t sparked any interest in me learning to cook though, ha ha 😉
It’s a good one!
I’m really picky with my food and I think it would cool to run a food blog, but not the kind of food they make in the movie, lol.
Lol, maybe you could do a Favourite Dish review – that would be fun! 😉
That would be cool! Lol.
Ooo a movie. Shiny!
Have you ever seen it?
Nope. My movie game is severely lacking. 😛 But I’m always on the lookout for something awesome.
I don’t watch too much tv either. But this is worth it.
Inspiration is what gets us back into the swing of blogging when you get bogged down. Just the idea that someone out there is reading your blog, the comments on your blog etc, are what this connection in the movie is about. If you are not inspired, you might be the inspiration in someone else.
I haven’t watched this movie but the actors are great and the story sounds inspiring. Might give this a go.
Very true. It’s a good one. Funny as well.
This is one of the most confidence-boosting movies out there.
I agree.
I haven’t seen this movie in FOREVER!!! But now I must watch it again. Must find a copy…
It’s one I only watch once in a while, but when I do I wonder why I don’t watch it more often, lol.
Just watched this movie again for the 3rd time Saturday night. That movie makes me hungry for food. I feel like cooking from a recipe book getting inspired in the kitchen even at 11 at night. Lol. I managed to sit through it without causing to much damage to the snack cupboard
Lol, I agree. It does make me hungry!
