Camp NaNo: Cabins

We’re two weeks away from Camp NaNoWriMo!

The Camp site doesn’t have forums like the main NaNo site. If you want to chat with fellow participants, you can either go to the Camp NaNo forum on the main site or you can join a cabin.

Cabins are assigned randomly, but you can change your cabin settings if you so wish. You can request people in your age group, people who are writing in the same genre as you, or people who have the same word count goal as you. Depending on what you choose, the camp counselors will assign a cabin to you.

Or…

There are private cabins. You can start your own cabin and invite specific participants to join. You can remain private with your friends or after you’ve invited who you want, you can make the cabin public where others can join at will.

Or…

You can opt out of the cabin assignments and not be in a cabin at all. It’s just you, your story, and the crackling campsite fire.

Cabin assignments are one week from today. Make sure you set your settings or create a private group soon!

Kris (Winged_Spirit) and I (Fiery_Sapphire) are in a private cabin of our own. It’s just the two of us right now, but if you would like to join us, let me know in the comments with your NaNo username. There aren’t a lot of spots, so it’ll be first come, first serve. We’re looking forward to writing with everyone.

Two more weeks and the writing begins. Finish your preparations soon!

      1. No problem! Let me know if you want to be in the cabin (I removed the invite only because you mentioned you weren’t sure if you wanted to be randomly assigned or not).

Including my sister and me, there’s three total, lol. When April gets closer, I’ll open the cabin to the public. I just wanted to give my WordPress friends a chance in case they wanted to do a cabin together. 🙂

      2. Ohh, I didn’t even see an invite, but then I didn’t check NaNo site till today! Thank you 🙂 I am still undecided – leaving it late I know, I sort of can’t decide much about this NaNo! whether it be what sort of cabin I want or whether I am going to carry on writing or edit! seriously haven’t got long left either! aaaaargh

      3. I’d have to be superwoman! I am leaning toward carrying on. But we shall see, I reckon I am going to have to sit down at my computer and just decide on the day!

      4. Noooo, can’t really what with having to get up for work the next day! ha. I tend to cheat, and start a few days before if I am being totally truthful. I do usually write late into the night though. What about you?

      5. I like cheating, lol. I’ve never started before, though.

I’ve always wanted to stay up until midnight just to give it a shot and see how much I can get done in the first day, but I never have. Most of the time it’s because I have work the next day. NaNo doesn’t start on a Saturday or Sunday very often.

      6. I know right, they didn’t think that through very well!! I would love to pull an all nighter, I used to all the time at uni, and to be honest if I was back there now I probably would! but I’m old, ok not old, but being a mum makes me feel old, and I’m certainly tired, and i definitely don’t have any time, so I am going to struggle to do this one, I am thinking of lowering my target word count too. just so i don’t get disappointed.

      7. Yeah, it’s definitely tough when you mix writing with life, lol. I’m not a mother, but I do have a lot on my plate. I’m getting my wisdom teeth taken out in April, so that will set me back a few days.

Lowering your word count isn’t a bad thing. But win or lose, at you’re writing something. In the end, you accomplished something.

      8. OHHHH BOY, wisdom teeth are awful, I will be sending you well wishes. Yeah you do, you work, have Sunday school to run and a degree, you are just as busy, so we can panic together when the 1st April arrives! 🙂

Let me know what you think!
