Today l wrote 5,030 words. So l hit my word count and was extra proud of myself because l finished the first draft of Detective Florence.

292 pages and 91,501 words. After l finished the first draft l printed it out and put it away. I’ll edit it later.

Just thought l would share this little accomplishment. I hope everyone else has been doing great–writing or otherwise.

  1. It’s good to hear of your accomplishment! 5K+ words is no small feat. Sounds like you’ve got your writing muscles in shape. However, that’s easy compared to editing 92K words, eh? 😉 Best of luck!

  2. Yay!! congrats! I started editing mine today! Printed out a few chapters since I can’t print it all at work without getting yelled at, and got to work. It’s fun so far, but I want you to be a beta reader because I have no clue if this is good or not haha.

    • Congrats on starting the edit! I don’t know about you, but editing is my least favorite part. I’ll admit that. 😉

I wouldn’t mind seeing what you have, but if you’re in love with your characters, believe the plot has potential and is an original creative idea, then I’m pretty sure you’re novel is good!

    • I’m not fond of editing, to tell the truth. But I’m changing the way I edit, so I’m hoping it’ll make the process smoother and more fun for me. Thank you! 🙂

    • Thank you!

At first I thought 5,000 words a day would be too much, but depending on how focused I am, I can do it in about three hours. And whereas I don’t have school or work right now, I’m trying to take advantage of the extra time I have.

Let me know your thoughts!
